And this breeder can just fill up this prison with another bunny and the cycle continues :cry: . Yes all bunnies deserve a good home but how is it helping the overbreeding situation when people who know about the volume of rabbits in Rescues still choose to get them from a breeder?

I know. I didn't say it was helping. :? That's one of the many reasons why I don't like breeders.

Thank you, he hates being touch and tries to jump out the hutch when I open it. He also just keeps running around.....think he must be stressed poor thing .....
Just taking it slowly with him .
 
You have a lovely new bun there. I am not against breeders but in this case I think i would have walked away as it just means she can breed more sadly. Maybe you can post out some welfare leaflets to try and educate her.

Though this is true it doesn't change the fact that this bunny is now out of harm's way and will lead a happy life. I would never buy from a breeder, but don't try to make the OP feel bad about what they've already done. To bring the rabbit back now would be just as awful and the rabbit is now going to get a chance at a life it never would have had. One purchase won't affect the entire system one way or another :wave:

One does make a difference as everywhere including this forum, there keep being "ones"..i have "one" in my rescue..there are 43 of them at the moment..
all pets have "ones" , each month 100 of dogs, all "ones" are put to sleep for lack of homes, and cats..and horses..
and Rabbits :(

I am well aware of the statistics, we had 200 cats at my local shelter this summer most were 'ones'. The OP's one rabbit though is just a drop in a large puddle and though we shouldn't excuse each and everyone, I don't think we should criticize them for something that they seem to know was not a great choice.
 
Personally, I would have turned around and walked away. Giving money to somebody like that is just plain awful.

I think, since you have him now, that you should make it your responsibility to report this "breeder" to the RWAf, RSPCA and perhaps your local council. You could also "name and shame" this breeder online, and try to make sure that nobody else uses them.

The fact that your rabbit is showing signs of being scared and flighty, shows that he was obviously never handled or ever shown a kindness. Yes, most rabbits get stressed when in a new home, but not to the point of being terrified and trying to get away from you. :cry:
 
Im not sure about that, Vegan Bunny - My Princess Katie was loved very much by her previous owners and she hid from us for a few days when she first arrived. It took her about 2 weeks not to run away from us. We cant get rid of her now - shes always round our feet ;)
