Finally got Boo a physio

Boo is a good age for a medium sized bunny isn't she? She may even be 12 if she was 2 when you got her perhaps? She is very dinky but as you say she has lost muscle tone now so she was bigger? Such a shame she is losing her sight now. Is the physio to try and build up her muscles then? Sorry if you have said this loads of times on RU but does Boo have arthritis then? Are you trying to build up her muscles to help her arthritis? I read that she has more muscles already in her shoulders and is more active. Does she manage to get about a little with her poor eyesight?
3rd physio visit today. Boo was compliant ....& then not & scarpered in to Eddys wicker house (she still got her pulsed therapy stuff as physio just put it on the top bit of the house, so received from above 🤣

Had more hands on stuff than previously. She feels Boo has a little more muscle around her shoulders which I'll take as a mini win. She has been notably more active in the past week too

Eddy is now loving the sainfoin brick. He was also like a pig in **** today as found one of Boo's cookies...he was running round the room with his head upright & his humungous treat projecting out🤣I did manage to catch him & retrieve it (gave him tiny bit out of guilt). The big bag of sainfoin nuggets were donated, via physio, to a 28 year old ex race horse who is being looked after in his retirement to a "lovely" couple, not of the racing world. They were really grateful apparently

Boo hasn't had a chance to use her pilates cushion yet as it arrived really under inflated & with a dodgy pump that doesn't work. A replacement is on the way

Enjoying a post physio snooze on me

I actually love these pix of her. Her dozy face is adorable. You must love her so. How could you not with a cute little face like this ❤
Thank You PM ❤️ I agree, i genuinely think she knows she needs help & is grateful for it - i even started getting face washes lately 😍
I feel sure bunnies know don't they? Awwww lovely face washes are just perfect from bunnies.. Is Boo a little feisty sometimes? Just wondered as the comments give me that impression.

Little Eddy got the cookie even for a little while at least. I love that he is running around holding on to the cookie 🤭 He had some though so he will see it as a win. Does Eddy love his food a lot then? I gather you have to watch his weight? Trust me I know that feeling. Lovely Eddy is so handsome as well.

So Boo has a little toy boy then in Eddy? They are both gorgeous and it is lovely to learn a little about them. It is plain to see that they have an amazing home and mummy as you get your Boo this extra special treatment. So much love ❤

I am so jealous that you are getting Boo face washes! 😍😍. I believe she is knows she needs help and is grateful. Boo is smart and adorable!!
It made me smile to read how Eddy was running with the cookie! You must have been fast to catch him.

I was speaking with my friend/Vet about Cartrophen yesterday. She says she has seen some excellent results when it’s used in conjunction with Acupunctue. My Vet does Acupuncture too. Not every Rabbit will cope with it, but I only had one who fell into that category.

Years ago I was extremely skeptical about Acupuncture at first. But I saw first hand the difference it can make in both Rabbits and dogs. I have observed treatment being given to both species (not all my Pets, I was able to observe consultations) and some of the improvements I saw were remarkable.

😍 awww. thanks so much for your kind words. Boo went fully blind a good few years ago. She had the whole house mapped before losing her sight so that prob helps but she is a coper & brave girl. When she lost her sight her activity changed as they can't run that freely & jump on & in things. well Boo can't / won't. i think this exacerbated her arthritis which would be likely in an older bunny anyway. she's been on metacam a few years for it. When she was young til blind she was sumper active & confident, she'd jump on windowsils & play skids, stand on te edge of her litter box & hoy the contents out between her legs. She'd yodel if she was annoyed. She's always liked loves but not a cuddle bun. yeah the physio is to try & help her build muscle essentially & hopefully pain relief & healing through the devices. Her dietary changes are to increase protein to facilitate that. Its a difficult balancing act because often I don't do her exercises cos she doesn't feel like it.

Eddy was rescued by police when they removed kids from a family home so i guess he could well have psychological issues with food. he'll feel very left out as Boo can eat 10 x what he does (he is fat, she thin) but he rarely leaves her side so you have to grab those opportunities when he does to feed her the non forage bits of her diet. i'm trying to minimise it but whilst we have Boo i don't think eddy will be as slim as i'd like

I've not discussed with my vet but did chat with physio about cartrophen & she appeared unenthusiastic - her main issue seemed to be if the injection wasnt tolerated & because its so long lasting theres no way back.

i'd love to get Boo acupuncture . Her physio doesn't do it unfortunately

That’s a shame x

She is beautiful so very deserving compliments 😍 Such a shame she went blind. It is incredible how rabbits (and some other pets) can manage to find their way about inside if they already know the area. Also having arthritis as well makes life even more difficult. She is indeed a 'coper and brave' girl. I love that she used to jump on windowsills and play skids. I would have loved to see that! I wonder what it sounds like to hear her yodel. (The only sound we hear from ours is growling, Mischief making squeaky noises when asleep and them stamping their footsies.) It is not really natural for a bunny to be picked up and moved from place to place though is it? So I understand her not liking cuddles but she loves attention which is lovely ❤️

I can see that it would be challenging to get her to do her exercises if she does not want to and then feed her protein to build up muscles at the same time. If she is slim then the extra protein wouldn't hurt too much though would it? She seems to love the physio though which could help her so much.

Poor little Eddy though having to move homes in that situation. Yes they may not have fed him the diet he really needs especially if he is overweight. He is in the best place now though living with you as you can implement any changes to his diet as you have such great bunny knowledge. He has fallen on his feet there 🥰

I bet it is very difficult to feed her extra food yet keep it away from Eddy. I wonder if he loves any toys or may be a lovely chew to distract him? But I am sure you have tried all that lights lol. That is the only thing I can think to suggest to you to help. Does Eddy love cuddles? That could be another distraction if he does?

Yes I think you can only do so much when they are total opposites on weight as one is thin and other overweight. If he loves food he will sniff it out pretty quickly. I think you are doing a great job managing your two buns especially as Boo needs extra attention due to being blind and having arthritis.

I really hope the physio continues to help and that she is happy to have it. My two send nose bumps to your cute little buns and good vibes from me to both of them too ❤️

Thank you for you lovely empathic reply. she actually really loves cuddles nowadays, i think she knows she needs help. But as a young - middle aged bun she was more of a typical rabbit - would do mutual groomies with you, but on the floor. every night she has red light therapy & falls asleep lying across my lap or belly

Mischiefs squeaky sleep noises sound cute 😍

Boo has a new fave fruit. Recently its been blackberries but OMG she goes insane for a grape. She is really good at guarding her fruit from eddy with her posture but she actually legged it away from him when I gave her a grape just now 🤣❤️ I'm thinking they might make good physio bribes.

I made her cookies from soaked sainfoin & all the usual stuff. She did eat some but says they are nowhere near as good as usual.

She needed a bum bath today & i gave her a little cool hairdry (still blows warm) & she must have liked it cos I got groomies. Sometimes she gets her packed lunch stuck behind weaker leg & when you peel them off she moves her leg to help you. she did that with the hairdryer too. She is such a sweetheart

Grapes are very yummy, I agree, Boo. I'm impressed by her legging it away from Eddy 🤣 She must really love her grapes ❤️ Sounds like she's just not that fond of the sainfoin, though, which is too bad. But how incredibly sweet that she helps you when you clean and dry her, and that you got groomies as a thank you 🥰

ahhh so you love your grapes too. I've only discovered red ones recently - as a kid they always had huge pips so I avoided them. Boo has competition, which is a good thing since its not possible to just buy 7 grapes. If only our grapes in the yard would grow- that would be perfect.

Yeah she's a grateful softie

She loved her physio session today which was all treatments, massages and no exercises.

Her physio can now feel some muscle building around her spine ❤️ Todays was session 5 over a month

That's wonderful news that the physio can feel muscle definition, well done Boo, and it's lovely to hear that she enjoys it so much 😍. So pleased that you found her a bunny physio J & B xx

You know, I hadn't realised, but it's been ages since I had grapes with pips in them; they all seem to come without them these days. It's good that you and Boo can share a love for grapes since you can't buy them in bunny portions. Hopefully the grapes in your yard will grow and you can both have homegrown ones (which will probably have pips in them, though).

Aww, that sounds lovely for her ❤️ It's so good that she's building up some muscle now after only 5 sessions. Boo and you and her fysio are doing so well 😊
