Finally got Boo a physio

That snoozy photo 😍 And her having escaped to Eddy's house 🤣 I'm glad she could still get her therapy. That's so encouraging that the physio feels she has a little more muscle around her shoulders and that she's been noticeably more active.

I love the idea of Eddy running around with a giant cookie 🤣 That's wonderful that the sanfoin pellets have gone to such a good home.
❤️ thank you Reader. I'm happy with these tiny improvements so far.

I wish I'd gotten a video of Eddy & his cookie, he looked so funny & pleased with himself but of course I just had to focus on getting it off him

What a lovely update on Boo, and receiving her treatment through the roof 😊 Would love to have seen Eddy running with the cookie, glad he got a bit 😂 and that is such a lovely photo of Boo snoozing on you, she knows you are helping her ♥️

Thank You PM ❤️ I agree, i genuinely think she knows she needs help & is grateful for it - i even started getting face washes lately 😍

I'm glad that Boo's therapy is still going well and that she's been more active when with you. Clever boy Eddy and glad he got a reward for his cleverness :D

Thank You. Yeah I couldn't deny him totally, he was sooooooo excited at his find 🤣

I would be happy, too. It's only been three weeks and she's already showing some signs that it's helping, which is wonderful.

I wish you'd gotten a video, too! But, yes, keeping him from eating the entire thing probably had priority. 🤣

That's so lovely that Boo is on the physio's Instagram and FB, showing everyone physiotherapy is good for bunnies, too ❤️

Apologies if this has already been discussed and it might now be too far along in Boo’s journey to be appropriate to use now, but has the Vet treating her ever mentioned a drug called Cartrophen? It would be an ‘off licence’ use if given to a Rabbit

thanks so much. I've heard the name but not in any context, so no - its not been explored at all. It sounds like an amazing drug....I shall do lots more reading now. Do you know of any bunnies, or other pets, who have used it?

Yes, I have had a couple of Bunnies prescribed it and it really helped. But it was given relatively early on in diagnosis, ie the disease wasn’t as advanced as Boo’s is now. Not saying it would be too late to try it to see if it was of any benefit, just that it might be more likely to be helpful if given in the earlier stages. And of course the risks need to be taken into account, as is the case with any drug. It is certainly a drug I would always want my Vet to consider as IME it has been beneficial and the Rabbits did not have any adverse side effects.
Not all Vets will be happy to prescribe it off licence though. I know of someone who had to change Vets in order for her Rabbit to be prescribed it.

Ahh thats good its helped several of your buns. I shall try to gather her vets & physios thoughts on it. What are potential risks & contraindications?

In dogs it can have a transient effect of the GI tract, but it’s rare. Apparently it can also have a transient effect on blood clotting, again said to be rare.

Side effects in Rabbits are not officially documented as it isn’t licensed for use in Rabbits, even though Rabbits will have been used to test the drug prior to it being licensed at all…….

It is wonderful Boo is improving with the physio.
Boo is so adorable that it is no surprise that her therapist had to post Boo photos on her own media.

3rd physio visit today. Boo was compliant ....& then not & scarpered in to Eddys wicker house (she still got her pulsed therapy stuff as physio just put it on the top bit of the house, so received from above 🤣

Had more hands on stuff than previously. She feels Boo has a little more muscle around her shoulders which I'll take as a mini win. She has been notably more active in the past week too

Eddy is now loving the sainfoin brick. He was also like a pig in **** today as found one of Boo's cookies...he was running round the room with his head upright & his humungous treat projecting out🤣I did manage to catch him & retrieve it (gave him tiny bit out of guilt). The big bag of sainfoin nuggets were donated, via physio, to a 28 year old ex race horse who is being looked after in his retirement to a "lovely" couple, not of the racing world. They were really grateful apparently

Boo hasn't had a chance to use her pilates cushion yet as it arrived really under inflated & with a dodgy pump that doesn't work. A replacement is on the way

Enjoying a post physio snooze on me

She is so tiny on her cushion having a physio. I forget mine are sooooo much bigger. I want little buns too now! ❤️

I am so chuffed for you finding a physio for Boo and Boo getting on so well with it. I love that you are getting a groom too 🥰

Oh I am so sorry to hear that 😞 How old is she? And how old is Eddy? I am trying to catch up on the newest posts as I am so far behind so I apologise that I don't know much about them. Tbh I find it hard just keeping up on my threads usually. She is very tiny and so Eddy must be tiny aswell. I wish you well with your two gorgeous buns ❤️

Boo is probably the oldest bun i've had yet. I adopted her from the RSPCA Altrincham June 2014. She was a stray then & an adult, guesstimated to be 1-2 years - so 11 years now ❤️ She has lost loads of weight & muscle tone...going blind set her back activity wise (she used to always be jumping in & on stuff.

I always get confused about Eddy's guesstimated age. He was recovered by police when they were removing children to safety. I don't know if his previous owners imparted any info. His RSPCA records had him as 2 when he was neutered by them in Nov 21, so reckon he's coming up to 5th birthday. Poor sausage, he has a gotcha day but not a birthday. I'll sort that this autumn as his rescue date.

In an ideal world Boo would weigh more than Eddy. Most of my buns have been in the medium sized category

Thanks so much for your kind words
