• Please Note - Medical Advice

    Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

    You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

    We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

    Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi All, Can you re-assure a worried new member. . .

Thank you everyone for the prompt and informative responses they are very much apprechiated!

@ Jenefina + Nicola1; Its fantastic that you guys are local! i have lots of questions regarding supplies etc! Its nice to know that Neil is trusted too, i live so so close though its tempting to be there all day! Im at work at the moment but going straight round when i finish to ask about the collars coming off.

Ive been out to see Poppy + Daisy this morning, they had a few nuggets (hand fed) and ive reheated the snuggle safe. The larger rabbit, Daisy, seems to be trying to get her collar off though.

Poor ladies!

Ask away if you have any questions :D!

I think Neil would probably advise you to take the collars off and see how they go I know he told me that some people took them off straight away on their buns. But as Jen says, just ring him, email him, call in, you'll never be as bad as us two :lol::lol: Neil is great at looking into things so if you tell him that you're concerned about anything he won't just dismiss it he'll look into it first :wave:

Like I say though he never used to cone them. I had Lucy and Ruby done after Jasmine and Daphne and I took the cones off while I was around to supervise and just put them back on overnight it seemed to work quite well

sending lots of vibes for a speedy recovery for your girlies xx

@Nicola1: thanks! I have to pop round to give them a snugglepad a borrowed last night, then im going to try jollys, P@H gateshead an forpaws to buy my own.

Where do you and Jenefina get most of your supplies?

Thank you all again for your best wishes!

I buy most of my stuff from Robinsons in Grainger Market. OH works at Metro Centre so I sometimes send him to Gateshead P@h but I try to avoid going in there myself :oops: there's also Riders North at Shiremoor who are really good, Jen gets her Megazorb from there

Then online there's the Hay Experts and Animal Magic Pet Supplies who are both really good and well priced for delivery :wave:

Sure, i have been 'stalking' the site for a while and i understand the nervousness about shopping with P@H, theyre just big and conveient :oops:

I just want my girls back to normal!

By the way i posted a bit of hello in the 'Your Stories' Section, but you can also see my rabbits here;

:love::love::love: they are gorgeous :love::love: I have a black lop too :D

I know what you mean about P@H and they sell some good stuff, but the little bunnies and hammies just tug on my heartstrings :(:oops:

just thought i would say welcome to RU :wave: and i never put the collar on my female when i got her spayed, she was not happy with it on and i think it does more harm then good, aslong as you keep a good eye on them (which it looks like your doing a great job :D) i did take poppy in the conservatory for 2 nights just so i could keep a close eye on her and it was not too warm in therre either :)

Im happy to say the girls are really picking up, they're eating pretty much as normal, and they are getting friendlier than ever!

They have their post op check up tomorrow at 10 am so fingers crossed the collars can come off and i can give them both a big hug! I bet they are dying for a good scrub down bless them.

Thank you everyone for your support on my first post, i look forward to being able to offer advise to others one day :p

Really glad to hear they're doing well but don't let it stop you stalking Neil, it's become a fun pasttime for me and Nicola, you should so join in!

Might see you in there sometime, look out for a little yellow car!

Literally our back garden joins on to their little outdoor space (which comes off from his consultation room) so even if i don't see you inside ill keep my eyes peeled for bunnies making their way in and out!!

P.s. Can you believe this snow!!?? Itll be my bunnies first experience of it when they get the all clear to go out :)

:lol: don't tell her that Jen might set up a tent in your back garden with her rabbits!!

I know I had to go to Sunderland in this today :shock: was a bit worried I'd get stranded. would love to put mine out and let them make pretty paw prints but they are house rabbits so can't :(

I'm so glad they're picking up :D amazing how quickly they can rally round
