Windwhistle Warren fundraiser....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there, I know this thread seems rather premature, but the earlier folks know, hopefully more will be able come along.

For the past two years, I have been invited along to the open day at Pershore College. (Worcestershire) The college runs courses on many, many things of which animal welfare is one.

Their open day is a great day out for everyone !!!! I have run a stall raising funds for RWA and Windwhistle Warren. My stall consists of three tables, one which has loads of literature from RWA, one selling miscellaneous items, and the other a great game which my friend and I devised, and beautifully constructed by her father. It is called ' What's in the warren ?', and creates great interest and is brilliant for raising funds.

The first year I attended it poured down with rain all day and was held indoors. Last year the weather was just perfect, so up went my gazebo, tables set out and had a fabulous day.

Well I have been asked to attend again this year...............yippee!!!
The date is 11th June. The college is on the B4084 between Evesham and Pershore.

Last year these following attractions were also there. I would think that it will be much the same this year, but will post further details nearer the time.

Plant and produce sales
Gardeners question time
RHS advice and membership
Floristry demonstrations
Garden design exhibitions
Classic cars
Dog agility
Animal workshops
Pets and exotic animals
Falconry displays
Countryside and conservation displays
Refreshments available. Homemade cakes, sandwiches, light lunches.
Craft stalls
Other animal charity stalls of which two are local ones. Canine Friends and Worcester Animal Shelter.

The entry fee LAST YEAR was £5.00 per car or £2.00 per person.

The college has a block dedicated to the animals, including RABBITS, guinea pigs, mice, creepy crawlies, all of which can be visited.

The college is set in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside. Perfect.

If you manage to come along I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. That is unless the weather is appalling. Fingers, toes and paws crossed !!

I will do a reminder nearer the date, which will include opening times and price of entry.

Hopefully something to look forward to in these bleak times.

Event in Cardiff, 22nd April

Message from the event organiser -

I am holding a Rabbit Welfare Association awareness stall at the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff on Good Friday (22nd April) at 12noon until 4pm. It is in Cardiff Bay and there is ample parking.

Red Dragon is the number one commercial radio station in Cardiff and they sponsor the whole complex which contains restaurants, Megabowl, Grosvenor Casino, Red Dragon radio station and a 12 screen Odeon cinema.

The film 'Hop' is out at the moment, it is about the Easter bunny, and is a great opportunity to educate people coming out of the cinema about rabbit welfare.......before they go and impulse buy one as an Easter gift! I hope to make people aware of the existence of the RWAF, why it is an absolutely neccessary and important association, and to spread the message that rabbits deserve more than they are given in the majority of homes throughout the UK . For me it is all about sewing the small seeds, after all, ignorance is the main thing the RWAF is up against. They are expecting a huge number of people in the centre on Good Friday so fingers crossed it ends up improving the lives of some bunnies and makes people more aware of their quiet plight.

Children and their families who come to the stall will be given an activity sheet with the RWAF logo and website on the bottom of it, and child friendly welfare facts dotted throughout. Once they have completed their activity sheet which involves finding clues around the centre they will they return and be given a 'Hop' poster, RWAF sticker and there will be RWAF leaflets etc available. My team of animal loving friends and myself and myself will be on hand to answer any rabbit questions and I may even persuade one of them to dress up as a bunny.........

Please join us on the day - Sarah Perryman

I've starting sorting through some lovely bunny themed items to raise funds for Windwhistle.

Please try to come along and support Alice.

Honeybunnies Rescue will be standing at the annual Arnesby May Fayre on 30th May, Bank Holiday Monday :D

The May Fayre is a huge event which has been running for over 30 years and attracts on average 5000 people. The village of Arnesby is closed to traffic for the whole day and the streets are filled with stall holders and entertainers. It's a great day out with something for everyone

It would be lovely to see some RU'ers there if any of you can make it
