Bonding Pip to her new friend

Well done you, and well done bunnies, it sounds like they are calming down. Fingers and paws crossed here for you all xx

Thanks both. Just got home to a boiler not working, no housework done and I forgot to wash the bunny blanket this morning. Doh! So quickly bunged it in the wash hoping I can dry it quick on our heated airer to squeeze a date in. My brain is so damn forgetful

We managed to turn it on, but half the radiators are cold so going to try bleeding again tomorrow. 🙄. It had two errors codes today. Just what we needed.
I have had to give the date a miss, blanket is still soaking wet annoyed with myself, but can't do it on the laminate they'd both hate that and I don't want to upset them. Yes house work had been left 😆, I'm have a very relaxed attitude to it. 🤭

hope the bleeding works. what a pain. we done v little bonding today, been too busy & now Eddy wont play

Well it would appear the colour of the blanket and the amount of hay was just a coincidence. 🤣

Date 2 hrs long

Pip was obviously not in a good mood, she spent the first hour like a t rex trying to chew, dig her way out or just pacing the edge of the pen.

This put Bumble on edge. So they were both a tad lungey tonight. But I stopped any scuffles.

He then did some binkies quite close to her. After a few she decided he needed boxing and he ran off

After an hour they both had a snooze. He flopped and she bun loafed, but had one ear radared in his direction. They were about a foot away.

Then we had 30mins of eating and then another snooze again him flopping and her lindt bunnying on opposite sides of the pen.

Then there was an bit more eating of hay then she started pacing again, so I let her out becuase she was testing my patience and I wanted some dinner.

I did her just to chill out, but being a stubborn bun she totally ignored me. Good job I love her.

Another 2 hr date.

Pip was definitely calmer than last night. I think its doing them every night that makes her calmer. So we shall see what's she like tomorrow night to see if my theory is right.

They were both still a tad lungey if either of them got within their personal space. Otherwise they are mostly fine just the odd squabble if I don't notice the lunging in time.

He did a couple of binkies near her face again she didn't react this time.

They ended their date doing about 30mins of reasonably calm hay munching about a foot apart, but they were both tense and watching each other.

Didnt have long tonight so squeezed in 1.5hrs.

Pip was definitely less t rex like around the pen. Still did some chewing though. She actually ran into the bonding pen, rather than me chasing her inside. So that's a bonus.
Bumble tried to lunge at her whilst she was drinking but I said no and stopped him.
Mostly there was hay and forage eating but I think Pip was being a bit more territorial tonight, she kept following Bumble to the area of pen he was in. Not in a charging way but hopping towards him.
However when she got close she got nippy and dug his back and he turned around and fought back. So I monitored them and intervened when it was needed.
Sometimes he just hopped away or binkied off.

In a way I think its good, cos I think she's starting to take an interest in him as a creature in the pen that she wants to be in charge of. Lol. Well that's what I'm telling myself. I really have no idea.
Maybe it's cos they are nethies should be called feisty little *******

I meant to do longer tonight, was hoping for 4hrs but dinner was ready, so had to stop after 3.20hrs. But that is my longest session.

Well I've certainly bonded with Bumble 😆. He's such a cutey pie.

First 30mins was Pip trying to escape and some squabbling between them. Then we had Pip doing some hopping around the pen and she nipped his bum or dug him. Sometimes he runs off, sometimes he turns around. I intervened if they boxed.

The rest was mostly eating and snoozing. They even managed to eat hay from a pile with only 2 inches between them. My heart was going mental waiting for one of them to react. Nothing happened. They did the same later on in the date and Pip did grunt and lunge at him, but I stopped her. (Pip has always been a bit like that with food towards Archie. We call her our piglet, cos she sounds like one) lol. So at least she's being herself.

He did loads of spectacularly binkies, including parkouring off the pen wall and landing in the water bowl. Pip didn't lunge at him at all this time.

I felt more relaxed other than the eating face to face bit. That was positively terrifying. They go from cute and fluffy to wolverines in half a second.

Anyway I'm proud of her tonight she was much better by the end and they were def sat snoozing about a 1.5ft apart.

I watched a video suggesting to stroke their heads to calm them down and encourage grooming. Well Pip hates heads rubs
always has and Bumble charges away as soon as you try to touch him, so that def doesn't help relax the situation. Lol.

Such cuties. Glad you're happier with how they are doing. Mine are better after the initial hour or so, they defo have to reassert their boundaries with every meeting. Eddy seems most feisty before his mid morning main sleepy time. Mine chill with head strokes but only if they are in the mood. Plus I'm pretty sure they are just letting me groom them so i'm bottom of the pecking order 🤣

Yes well we all realise we are bottom of the pecking order. I've tried many times to bow to Pip and Archie and neither of them ever groomed me. 🤣.

This is sounding much more positive! You'll be so happy when you see them sitting together and it will all be worth while.

Yes that what I keep telling myself. All this stress and sitting on a concrete cold floor with be worth it in the end. I know Pip will be happier
she certainly has her mojo back, even if it's aimed at peeing all over my lounge.
