Vibes for Barney and Molly please U/D 4 May. Molly is back :)

Everything crossed for Barney, hoping it's something easy to treat.
(Sorry I'm so late finding this - I'm not around so often)

She had a dose of canaural the night before his test... Why?

I really mean had he had the opportunity to ingest any of it for several days, not just a one off ? It is probably totally unrelated, but Canaural contains prednisolone, a corticosteroid. Rabbits a very sensitive to the potential adverse side effects of steroids, one of which is the impact they can have on the Liver

''Administration of corticosteroids may cause hepatomegaly and a concurrent rise in serum levels of hepatic enzymes''

But I really doubt that it is to do with Canaural ingestion. I would run the idea by the Vet though.

:( thanks Jane; yes he has probably ingested quite a bit over the last 10 days. He is a very licky bun and washes everyone and everybun thoroughly, bless him. I do hope it isn't that. I'm so worried :(

I'm really getting worried now. OH thinks Barney is getting worse  he said he looks really sad all the time, and he's really making an effort to be normal, but looks like he's suffering inside :( i am not meant to take his poo sample in until Fri but I'm taking it tomorrow - i don't want him to suffer any longer than he has to; we need to know what's wrong with him. I am scared to give him metacam in case it makes his tummy worse, as we don't know what the problem is  don't know what to do.

Is the Vet thinking along the lines of Coccidiosis, hence the fecal samples ??

The faecal sample was suggested by the lab who did the blood analysis. Coccidiosis hasn't been mentioned though. He has never had runny poo, just strange shaped droppings really :?

poor barney, and poor you. seems never ending for you doesn't it. :( i hope you can find out what is going on with him. x

Huge hugs, I am so sorry to hear this. I hope that the vets/specialist can shed some light on the blood test results once they have tested his poops. I have everything crossed that it is nothing serious xx

Edited to add that did your vet discount megacolon? I don't know much about this but seem to remember that causes odd shaped poops.

The person who did the report has a special interest in exotics and said it could help determine whats going on in his gut :?

Please no panics, but I've been wondering about a mild form of coccidiosis. There are 7-8 different types, affecting different areas of the gut. Believe me it honestly isn't always a sudden serious life threatening illness. It can be quite mild but ongoing in some cases.
