Brian -U/D24th November Post 78

I really am so sorry to hear about poor Brian. He is definitely in the best possible hands though being with you. I am sure you will make him as comfortable as you possibly can and I have eeverything cross he calms down soon xx

Is it possible he has a space occupying lesion in the brain Jane? Or maybe a bleed? Poor Brian  it must be awful to see him so distressed x

We discussed that possibility but in the absence of any other neurological symptoms, no hypertension etc Vets thought unlikely :?

ETA- Also we'd need a CT Scan, again way out of my price range

How utterly terrifying for Brian and for you to watch  I really hope the EC treatment makes a difference and that Brian can settle/adjust to his sight loss. Thinking of you both x

poor Brian - he must be terrified. So sorry. Hope he starts to cope soon, and that you can work out what it is.

Poor Brian how awful that he is so scared. Hopefully given some time he may calm down.

I don't know much about treatments etc, but would a rabbit sedative help, if there is such a thing.

Mega vibes that whatever Brian is experiencing will get better.

So sorry to read the latest update :( Lots of vibes for him, hope he will feel calmer soon xxxxxxxxx

:cry: poor brian.......im always terrified of this happening to our buns...woozle did but he also woke up unable to move his bacl legs or breathe properly...pdsa years ago...sent him home dying saying there was nothing wrong.....he died from a series of fits whilst we waited for a lift......
our old bunvet was training there back then but it was her day off...she said stroke was prob cause....and shed have had him pts there and then as he was hysterical at being blind then couldnt breathe:(

some buns i guess can ave slight neurosymptoms some more proniunced with EC?

sadly it can be many things....all needing tests..scans require a GA too:(

yes a brain abscess can do it....like we think one maybe the cause of berties seizures. A tumour..not necessarily in the actual brain or behind the eyes apparently can affect bunsight...so ive read on many US bunsites......

Basically infections anywhere...pasturella esp can send infection to the brain...to the eye etc....resulting in sudden blindness with no other symptoms.

i agree the stress alone would kill him. The bills are high enough......the risks of the scans would be too much.

The vets could only put bertie on metacam daily to reduce any inflammation...if theres any in his brain from probable pasturella abscess in there:(

are animals affected by temporary hysterical blindness like some people are i wonder?

poor little bunster...vibes and calming thoughts for him.......hugs for you...id have panicked and fallen apart.

Thank you for all your support. I just wish that I could help him feel less terrified  It is awful to see how a once calm and confident little Bunny turned into a highly strung, miserable nervous wreck all within a few hours

So sorry to hear hes no better Jane :( I hope you can get to the bottom of it and find a solution. Loads of vibes xxxxxxxxxxxx

Brian is a little more settled now and he has not had a 'panic attack' since yesterday morning. He is eating again.

Now for the VERY weird thing........ I *think* he has regained some vision in his left eye :?

I am going to call C today to discuss it all with her. If I could afford the specialist referral then obviously that is the way C would go. But I cant, so we can only do what is possible. Please dont think too badly of me, I cant just magic up hundreds of pounds

It is good to hear he is a bit more settled and eating again. It sounds like things are moving in the right direction.

As for the specialist referral, it could be you put him through it all and still have no more answers than you do right now. Just because there are options for specialist involvement doesn't always mean that they are the right course of action.

I'm so glad Brian has calmed down :) and if he's regained some sight that's awesome! I don't know if my Olly has something similar; in case you're not aware he developed head tilt very early in life, we still don't know if it's EC related or ear infections. But he doesn't seem to have had sight in his down eye for a long time, although the vet says it looks fine! Sometimes he seems worse than others and panics a little, but not for long. It's just strange that the vet can't see anything wrong with it... Sending tons more vibes for Brian xxxx
