  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Worried about my bunny

My rabbit has been acting a bit strange in the past 2 hours. He first did a big sprint from his eating area and since then he has had a very fast heart rate and has barely moved from the spot he stopped sprinting to.

He won't take his favourite treat and the spot he is in isn't his usual resting spot. His litter tray has also been unused in the past 2 hours.

Is it possible that he is stressed out after we just moved house or is something else possibly going on?
Would like to add that there are no vets open within miles of where we live

He could have been startled by something.Especially if you have just moved to a new environment. Does he have some places he can hide under ? Leave food and water close by and observe from a distance for a while.
He seems to be back to his usual self now, Gone back to resting in his normal spot underneath our bed and eating his favourite food again. Took a couple of days but we also changed his water bowl to the one we usually give him when he is unwell. Thanks for the help :)

Glad to read the positive update 😀

It was nice to read he returned to normal and is doing well. They are such delicate creatures that it can be such a worry when they are not acting themselves. You must be so relieved.🐇

Bless him it is quite a big upset for a bunny moving house I would think. Lovely to hear he is doing well. Sending good vibes for him
