When to start introducing fresh vegetables?

CocoLoco

Young Bun
Hi all,
My buns are about 9-10 weeks old. They are currently on alfalfa hay and pellets at the moment. I’m wondering when I can give them fresh vegetables and fruits? I’m seeing a lot of mixed information online as some say its ok to start introducing fresh vegetables at 12 weeks but others say that we’re not supposed to give them veggies till they’re 6 month old. I’d also want to know when i can start giving them timothy hay instead of alfalfa? I’ve also bought them some timothy hay stick chew treats, when can i give this to them?

Were they weaned on to the food their Mum was eating, including Veg ? If so the could have continued to have the same diet

If they have never had Veg I would start to slowly introduce it, one variety at a time and in a very small amount, from the age of 12 weeks. Start with dark greens or some fresh herbs such as flat leaf parsley or coriander. Avoid feeding any fruit or carrots, the green carrot tops are OK. Some Rabbits can get a gassy tummy when fed cabbage, so I would avoid that for now.

I’m not sure if they were weaned as we got them when they were only 6 weeks old from a friend. During that time, we got told that they have stopped feeding from their mum already and mainly ate pellets not sure if they even gave them hay. I don’t think they were very well kept there

When can i switch to timothy hay as they are currently still on alfalfa hay. Is it ok to mix alfalfa and timothy hay?
