• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Vibes for Dara Please - U/D Improving

Yes, she sniffs it then thumps and hops away. Usually with a back foot flick 🙄 She loves dehydrated cucumber though 🙄

She’s peeing loads now as she’s loaded up with SQ fluids. Hopefully it’s flushing all the nasties out.

I am not in her good books though, I am getting a lot of cross Nethie side-eye looks……

She has eaten some fresh grass. But mostly she’s eating hay. I don’t know how she can eat so much dry hay and yet drink very little at all.

Going to see if she might do the opposite of what is normal and drink more from a bottle than a bowl. She is a very brachy’ Nethie and she will often have sneezing fits if she does have a drink. She must inhale some water as her nostrils touch the surface of the water as she drinks. I doubt it’s pleasant to sniff in water. With a bottle this wouldn’t happen. But first I need to teach her how to use a sipper bottle……
She sounds like a sassy little character! Glad she is improving, I wish they could understand that we're just trying to help them and that life would be so much easier if they let us!

Yes, her ladyship decided she would eat some fresh apple leaves

She‘s just been started on abx as another urinalysis this afternoon now indicates infection.
I hope that the abx helps. I don't know why, but I always feel relieved when an actual infection is found and abx prescribed, whether for myself or my bunnies. I think from childhood I still consider them the magic drugs, which will bring about a cure. Which really makes no sense at all!

Oh, madam! 🙄 You must eat what's good for you, dear...! (She says whilst having a sip of a sugary frozen coffee.)
I always put bottles and bowls out for the buns. It was extra work keeping them clean but they used both. Fiver's usually were toy receptacles. 🙄

Hoping the abx clears up the bugs, sharpish. xxxxx

Thank you all for your support, yet again. It really helps as I seem to go into panic mode much more these days if any of my three remaining Bunnies becomes unwell.

Thankfully Dara is doing very well now. She’s still not impressed with me though. It’s amazing how such a tiny Bunny can have such a big attitude 🤣❤️ I’d rather see her like that though than the quiet and compliant Bunny she becomes when she’s not well.
