Morning Jane
Sad to report since my last post, for the past few days I haven't seen ANY bunnies in the fields out back. I had a favourite little golden bunny I've been keeping a special lookout for, and I haven't seen him at all.
Well done, that's fantastic Did anyone refuse?
No, but only the Volunteer in the Blue Cross Shop had heard of RHD2. None of the Petshop Owners had.
That's dreadful that they hadn't heard of it, but it also makes what you've done even more worthwhile as hopefully they will now mention it to new rabbit owners.
VHD 2 confirmed in Warwickshire

Oh dear, that it worrying but honestly not surprising to me. Being born and bred in Liverpool, and having worked with animals for a long time here, in my personal experience animal welfare and knowledge in general is... not the best. We have a few fantastic rabbit-savvy vets but they are very few and far between. The thing that worries me is looking at Liverpool on the RHD2 map and seeing that it's very bare, which I'm assuming means that people are not reporting any suspicious deaths which, again, I'm actually not surprised by. It's both sad and terrifyingGah, today's episode of 'The People's Vet' on CH5 featured a Bunny (Mittens) who that morning lost his partner to 'sudden death'. The consult was USELESS, no mention of Vaccination status. No information given re RHD1/2. No discussion about diet, general husbandry etc. Then Vet goes on to say how they have seen ' quite a few sudden deaths in Rabbits recently' (should that in itself not ring alarm bells........) and that 'sometimes these things just happen and that it could be congenital'. Only advice given was to worm the Bunny regularly. Not for what or what with.
The owners had thought that Mittens was a girl but the Vet said that 'she' is a boy. I would not take that as Gospel.
I just hope that the consult was heavily edited and not as bad as it seemed
Rant over...............................
