This Makes me Feel Ridiculously Happy !

They look lovely! Mine have had the Cotswold sweet hay before (with dandelion) and it smells lovely! My two seemed to love it 😀

The nettles one looks lovely and stalky and mine do eat nettles. Do you think it would be good for my two along with their Timothy and Meadow hay atm with their current diet and Chief's dental issues? They don't really eat the soft meadow hay much so we could change it maybe? 🤔
Yes, the nettles would be excellent 😀

The Hay Shed is now my favourite supplier!
Every type of hay I have purchased from them has been amazing. I confess to placing a huge order for a variety of hays last week. It arrived the next day 😳😀

I am rather poorly at the moment so I haven’t been able to do a photoshoot of my purchases, but you can see them on the website. I bought Timothy Hay with marigold and dandelion, Meadow Hay with marigold and dandelion, Rye Hay, Oat Hay and New Cut Green Wheat Hay 😀

I can second this from what I received yesterday. Their website is also a joy to use and their delivery times excellent.

I have been a huge fan of timothyhay.co.uk for a long time, occasionally venturing off to try something new, but always returning. I bought a small quantity of Hay Shed's Timothy hay (without forage). It is in my view very similar to timothyhay.co.uk's usual stalky timothy, but this batch is currently much greener and smells amazing. Bunnies seem very happy with it too, which of course is the most important thing, not my view.

So, if your bunnies like timothyhay.co.uk timothy because it's long stemmed and stalky, then they should like this :D

I also bought some oat hay, but haven't opened that yet. Not many companies stock oat hay and so it was nice to be able to get some again. We have only a small area in their shed for hay storage (up on a shelf) and I'm afraid that if I open the box, it will not fit so well. Will try to rearrange the boxes later today, as I'm wanting to try the bunnies with it.

I've just placed an order... 😂 Will see what the buns and pigs think about it! 😂

Their website says next day I thought, I ordered early Saturday morning, says it'll be tomorrow, anyone else find theirs wasn't next day?

I'd assumed it would be today and Monday would be considered the day to ship

I think mine came next day. If yours is coming by DPD, I would check their email timings, as I know that very often with timothyhay.co.uk, whose hay also came via DPD, it was quite often held up with the courier for an extra 24 hours.

This looks very exciting. May well have to treat Snowflake, Loganberry and Moondust to some hay shed hay.

They currently have ings hay from hay and straw.

Goodness the prices are much higher than hay and straw. I get 9.5kg for £19.00 and its 10kg for £29.99 for timothy hay from the hay shed. Wonder why it is so much more?

Oh I ordered from the hay box. Oops. Mind you not really oops. It will probably be lovely. The hay shed can be for next time!

They hay box timothy soft cut is glorious. Will try to remember to take pictures. Also got a herbal blend which the rabbits are yet to try. Looking forward to trying the hay shed next time round.

I bought my buns some Norfolk nettle with their usual dried forage order from Bunny Bistro recently. I scatter some over their timothy hay. Then I scatter some of their dried forage mixes over that. They love it and I love that it is spiky so will help their teeth. It also smells so earthy aswell ☺️

Also by adding the nettles and forage on top of their Timothy hay we are encouraging them to eat their hay. The nettles and forage hopefully help the hay smell even nicer. I give them a different mix of forage every day to make it more interesting with different smells and tastes and it is still all natural and healthy. I can adjust the amounts of each product so easily aswell depending on their diet.

I also got a very good deal on their forage recently. I bought a huge forage box reduced to £19.99 in their clearance sale containing lots of 100g bags of different forage products (like birch leaves, dandelion roots, dried carrot slices) which means I can give Mischief and LillabelIe a greater variety. I don't give them the carrot or apple slices atm as they have recently been dieting to lose weight and we avoid extra treats unless they are very healthy ones. They have too much sugar for my buns atm. However I give them everything else in moderation.

I also bought a kg bag of dandelion leaves, a kg of plantain and a kg of dandelion roots aswell as the nettles and the forage box. The nettles were also in the clearance sale for £7.99 for a kilo box. Such a great deal for this lovely product.

This means I can use the nettles, dandelion leaves and plantain as their usual bulk forage and I can use the different 100g bags of forage to sprinkle a little over the hay to introduce other smells and tastes each day. It is also very healthy but it also looks like a banquet for bunnies with their gorgeous timothy hay underneath 😁

I definitely rate Bunny Bistro for their products. They are always top quality whether in the summer or winter (allowing for seasonal changes in size and appearance) and they usually deliver quickly. I definitely would keep an eye on their clearance sales. You can get great value this way.

Mr & Mrs Chief send nose bumps to you, Inspector Morse, for their nettles. They get so excited when I bring the box in 🥰

I was wondering how your two were getting on :D

It sounds as though they are doing well and I agree you've got some really good bargains there from Bunny Bistro. Adding the nettles and other forage on top of their timothy hay is a really good idea. I'm sure that they appreciate the different mix of tastes, probably as much or more so than their previous commercial treats. Plus it is so much more healthy for them too. Well done to you and to them ❤️

People often ask for advice on here about a healthy rabbit diet. I find it's less often that people actually follow the advice they're given. You've done this successfuly, which gives me a lot of pleasure.

Oh thank you. How is everybun? I apologise for only coming on here now and again. Life has a habit of moving too quickly.

Yes they are doing really well. They love their 'herb' supper more than anything. They get so excited and sit by the bedroom door waiting for it 🥰

The key to this successful diet is the Timothy hay they love so much. They eat loads of it 👍

We are going to order some more hay soon. We will order their timothy hay as usual but they are no longer interested in the meadow hay we get. It seems pointless buying a hay they do not eat so we need a replacement.

I am thinking a soft hay would be good to leave at the ends of their litter tray as it stays in shape better than the timothy hay. Lillabelle is still throwing the hay out the ends of their litter trays and the softer hay makes less mess. We were thinking of the Cotswold hay with dandelion. I need to read up on this thread to check who the supplier is but it is soft hay isn't it? I am trying to remember 🤣

The point I am trying to make is that the buns definitely ate that. Not as much as the Timothy hay though. I wondered what other hay would be best for our two as they are on a fairly strict diet and don't need a hay that is too fattening? Would an oat hay be fattening? We know to not give them alfalfa but I don't know much about different hays. Is there a thread on this maybe or an article I could read up on please?

Also I thought about testers I could buy to see which ones they like. I feel sure I read that somewhere about selling hay testers for a £1 each but I can't remember where I saw it 🙄
