• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Possible pregnancy

New Kit
Hi my doe made a burrow under her hutch that I never noticed and it went under back of hutch and under neighbour fence. Neighbour has a buck. This happened exactly 3 weeks ago. We were unsure if they bred as neighbour was just as shocked as me to see the 2 of them and we had a good laugh. Today would be day 21 and I have seen her hay stashing and pulling out some fur. Is this too early and could this be a phantom. She had no other symptoms before this

She probably is pregnant. If she’s still very young and/or has never had a litter before she is likely to nest early, she’ll probably make another nest nearer the due date. But don’t destroy the one she’s already made.

You need to prepare for her to kindle by about day 32.

Thank you, kind of freaking out. I love my bunnies but have no idea about babies. My other rabbit didn't appear to go next door and isn't showing any symptoms. I had check on them just half hour before. They are due to be spayed in 4 weeks time. I will keep an eye on them and read up on pregnancy and birth just incase. I have also purchased chicken wire to now put under the soil to prevent them from digging and have brought them indoors to prevent any further mishaps.

It’s always a bit of a gamble when you’re unsure about a rabbit's pregnancy! Just like in a casino, sometimes you need to take a closer look and gather all the information before making a move. If you need any help with science homework while learning more about rabbit care and pregnancy, there are plenty of resources to guide you through it. Best of luck with the bunnies!
Thanks for the link, you saved my day.
