Plant Images

Agree with Omi, as always.:)
No 4 looks a bit like a primula to me.

I wouldn't feed field bindweed to rabbits. I have (finally) persuaded some furries to eat the hedge variety with larger white trumpet flowers - I have LOTS on the allotment, so it's nice to have a use for some of it - finally.
OK, I think that this is more than likely a Primula of some sort. I really can't think of anything else it could be. That being the case, then I'm afraid this should not be fed to bunnies.

I have a bit of bind weed at the end of my garden. It’s in competition with one of my Virginia Creepers. I have never offered it to the bunnies. I will try later. But first I will post a pic of it on here to be certain it’s OK.

Hi and welcome to the forum :D

Yes, this is the correct place and don't worry about posting plant images, as we like a challenge

No 1 Yes, this is a rose. Bunnies can indeed eat all parts of the rose, so petals, leaves and stems (including thorns). However, you say that this 'falls' into your garden? If the rose bush is not managed by you, you need to ensure that it hasn't been treated with any chemicals eg pesticide.

No 2 This is Field Bindweed and unfortunately is the Bindweed where the advice is not to feed in large amounts or small amounts over long periods. I do not feed this at all.

No 3 Yes, this is Herb Robert and can be fed to bunnies. You'll get to know the distinctive smell of this.

No 4 I'm not sure what this is. I may come back at a later stage on this one.

No 5 Looks the same species as No 2 to me?

No 6 This is a Potentilla, so a Cinquefoil or Tormentil. I suspect it is non-toxic, but I've never fed it and I've not seen it recommended for bunnies.

The general advice for feeding any new food to a bunny is to give a small amount of just one species. That way you can monitor for any changes to digestion/poo.

I would recommend Foraging for Rabbits, if you want to do your own identification. It's available here https://shop.rabbitwelfare.co.uk/product/foraging-for-rabbits-2nd-edition-by-twigs-way/

An alternative place on the forum to post about foraging wild plants for bunnies is here

Thank you so much for your information! Can definitely see why you’re a “wise old thumper” :D

Oo what's the difference? 😬
If it's flowering - which is nearly always - the hedge one has bigger (couple of inches?) white bell flowers and more heart shaped, floppier leaves in one shade of green. It climbs anything it can wind round.

Field Bindweed is a trailing or creeping plant, occasionally climbing up to 2m. Its funnel-shaped flowers may be pink, white, or pink-and-white striped, and are sweet-scented, unlike the larger kinds of bindweed. Its leaves are grey-green and arrow-shaped.

The field bindweed that I've seen had very pretty pink flowers which were quite a lot smaller (couple of cm?). The pics on the above posts show that it's leaves are also a mix of colours and more spear shape with pointy bits rather than rounded shoulders.

Ah I'm not sure then, coz it never gets to flower I rip it out all the time before it gets anywhere tbh.. Not sure how I'll know, but it definitely comes on vines that wrap around stuff

Best way of dealing with it - or it strangles everything. The roots can run underground for many meters. Any little bit left will regrow.
