• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I've started to compile a list (in first post) of useful health links and old threads so that they are all in one place and this can be the first port of call, if you like, when a health related problem arises.

The list is by no means complete as yet - some sections still need more links and there are no doubt some illnesses/problems that I haven't mentioned at all yet.

If anybody has any useful links or knows of old threads on here which may be relevant, could you kindly post them here and I will add them to the first post.

Thank you. :love::love:

Good idea :thumb: What about pet insurance? could add the links for Petplan & P@H insurance?

:thumb: I'll also have a look for some threads comparing them and perhaps some discussing whether or not to insure. ;)

Great Job!

What to expect from, and after care for a spey, is a common query from newer members. Coupled with what to look out for and what to count as an emergency following a spey.

Dental issues are also becoming a regular sight.

Quite often there are a lot of £ related posts, as in how much to expect to pay for most common treatments/vaccinations/speys. This could help to encourage someone to seek help quicker if they are more prepared and know what to expect.

I will try to find some good links for these later if I get time.

Skin problems?
I have just found a lumpy bit on the scruff of my buns neck... thought it was a stickyweed cleave thing, then looked closer and it's almost like a white-ish scab with a few blackish bits?? Bit worried?!! It's Sunday so no vet, is it something I should get checked out asap?? It isn't bothering my bun.

Thank you. I'll have a little look through the sort of advice it gives and pop it in the first post. :D

Would it help if I posted an individual thread with a rabbit mouth breathing? As it seems to be something which lots of people don't know (thankfully). It is in the cardiac video but may be more helpful to have an individual thread with a clear title?

I think, that knowing and seeing your beautiful bridge bunny, we could all learn a lot from yuor experience with her. Mouth breathing is horrid and i hope i never have to see it. Bless you for wanting to pass that knowledge on.
