Spenser is his hutch most of the day - he doesn't really wake up properly to mid-afternoon, so that's when he goes in his run. I couldn't let him free range because our garden's quite big and he's difficult to catch. I'd like to let him out in the early morning, when he is also lively, but his run is now on the lawn, not attached to his run. It's not ideal, but if it's not your house and garden bunny and bunny mummy have to make compromises.
