• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is there any vet in Medway UK that has Penicillin G?

Happy Hopping

Wise Old Thumper
I am posting this on behalf of a UK friend, she's at the Rabbit United group at UK, but not at this forum. Her bun has a respiratory issue and the Enro given is not enough, and her vet does not have Pen G. They are now seriously concern about if their bun can make it thru

Jane, who is Mark Rowland? and how do you know they have it?

I have to ask because you told me you are goofy all the time😄

He is an Exotics qualified Vet. He has helped some of my Rabbits

Your friends Vet probably said no to Penicillin injections because the Vet isn’t Rabbit savvy. Also, Penicillin injections are not the only other option to Enrofloxacin for the treatment of RTIs. There are several other abx that could be prescribed. A Rabbit savvy Vet like Mark would carry out the correct examination and diagnostics to establish the best type of treatment.

update: Jane, you saved that rabbit's life today. It's Hayley Barrett's rabbit Kye. She really appreciate this. Her first vet clearly doesn't know what he is doing, giving medicine for a GI stasis in which he should have treated RTI. Even I can tell her those medicine won't do anything. And that john doe vet actually told her that Kye has less than 1 day to live. So Hayley got a hold of the Mark, and now Kye is a happy rabbit. Imagine 1 john doe vet says the bun has 1 day to live, and the real rabbit specialist treated Kye w/ the right medicine and said everything will be okay.

thank you once again,
