How To Stop Someone From Reading Your Posts ?

Is there a way that you can stop ('block') another forum member from reading your posts ? I don't feel comfortable with knowing that someone is possibly looking at what I am writing .

Sorry if the answer's really obvious, I'm a bit rubbish with navigating forums ect .:roll:

i've never heard of that.

I think its a case of 'if you post in public you take your chances on who reads it'.

I've been on many forums and I've never heard of anything like that either. Don't think it's possible I'm afraid :?

It isn't possible.
I think I know what it's about, unfortunately you will just have to avoid posting anything you don't want that person to see. I hope that you are ok.

Thank you, Snowball .

That's a shame guys but I suppose it is a rather unusual request . Thanks anyway Xx

The only option on the forum is to ignore other members so you can't see what they've written. We don't have the option to do that the other way round though.

As happybun touched on, with forums it's very much a case of bearing in mind that anybody could be reading what you've written & to only give away information that you would be ok with the general public (or a specific person) reading.

Yeah that isn't possible unfortunately. but even if it were they could always create a new account under another IP (under another IP so that they don't get banned for multiple accounts).

I have a vague idea I think of who you're talking about...disturbing if it's true:(

It's a shame that there's nothing that can be done in specific circumstances such as yours, I would feel very very uncomfortable :(

Sadly, forums are like that.. Its a public platform to air views and as such, open to anyone..

You'd probably just need to be aware of what you were posting

It's not really helpful to keep alluding to a specific situation, guys, as nobody knows the full details and could well be jumping to conclusions, so let's just stick to general advice.

Not talking about the OP's situation specifically but there are things people can do if they're worried about somebody's online behaviour - cyberstalking can be reported to the police for example - but I don't think it's actually an offence to just be able to read what somebody else has written; you actually need to be harassing them in one way or another too.

If that isn't the case, then it boils down to what's already been said - people need to think about what info they're posting and whether that could possibly be used against them in some way....... and that's good practice in general, I think.
