Found him dead in the shed this morning. 
Not been himself for some weeks, but nothing I could put my finger on. Not been coming out of the shed as much as he used to and sometimes in deep sleeps (I would have to poke him to wake him up, after which he would be fine).
My first thought was flystrike with the hot weather and he has always suffered with a dirty bum since he has no incisors, so we have to clean him regularly. However, no evidence of maggots.
Maybe it was just old age.
We've had him 6 years but don't know how old he actually was. Got him from Shawn and Tracey's (Mr-T & rngpwelfare) when we went to their open day. Went for a coffee, came back with an Elroy! He had been found wandering the streets with hugely overgrown teeth when he was handed in to them.
Elroy has always been in incredibly laid back bun. Happy to be handled, and even putting up with his bum cleans with the minimum of fuss. He's always liked his fuss. He has been bonded to and living with Honey for 5 years. I hope she will be OK without him.
