Dwarf breeds

New Kit
Helloooo friends (from the uk)

I have two dwarf bunnies below 8 months.
Togepi- netherland dwarf
Lillipup- mini lop (usa holland lop)

i wanted to know if we transition them onto 'adult' food or do they remain on 'junior and dwarf rabbits' food in the long term.

Ive also read online SS is known for choking hazards but in the UK they are very popular.

We have a few other brands pets at home, burgess etc and wanted your take on whats more suitable for dwarfs in the long run, as well as pellets or nuggets and brands you like?

Thanks in advance angels

Some of the SS pellet varieties size and shape has changed since the choking issues became apparent. I only feed pellets as a hand fed treat, my Rabbits, a ND, a mini Rex and a mini lop X, all have no more that 10 SS 4+ nuggets a day. Some days they don’t have pellets at all if they have additional dried forages instead.

As one of my own Rabbits choked on the old style SS pellets I would not risk feeding them again if the manufacturer had not changed the size and shape of the pellets. I don’t feed the SS adult variety as the size and shape of the nugget is too similar to the old version.

As You might already know, pellets should only be a small % of a Rabbit’s diet, at least 80% should be hay/grass

The RWAF is a good source of information about all matters related to the care of Rabbits, including good advice about diet

Thank you

Would dwarf rabbits be ok on junior/dwarf food or are they ok to move to adults? As yours are senior
