Bavarian Bunny
Wise Old Thumper
I just took in a pair of bunnies for ARC, one of them is a tiny 6-year old PEW Nethie boy. The owner dropped them off with me and said that he gets his teeth clipped every 8 weeks or so and that he seems to be eating fine. She brought a small bag of their food, the muesli type, "as they don't like pellets".
After she had left, I took a closer look at them. The female seems to be overweight and needs her nails clipped, but otherwise looks ok. But the little Nethie boy has soft poo stuck around his bottom, weepy eyes and the bottom front teeth are coming out of his mouth. When my bf is back, I'll let him help me with taking some photos.
The teeth have been clipped, but they still look terrible and grow in the wrong direction. I think the only option is to remove them completely, but is it very risky to do this a very small and quite old rabbit? Not sure how he can eat with those teeth, but it looks like his partner eats most of the food, anyway. I am sure our vet will know what to do, but I just wanted to hear some other stories of older and small bunnies having a GA etc..
