  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Aoife- U/D 17th Sept 2023- She’s Gone :-(

Aoife had another seizure a couple of hours ago  Not a full blown tonic-clonic one this time, but still very distressing

She has stopped eating now too

Our Vet has advised that we don’t attempt to transport her to the Surgery as she’s too unstable and there isn’t anything more that could be done there at this stage than we are already doing

I have a very bad feeling about how this is going to pan out today

I am sorry she had another seizure and that she has stopped eating. She is getting the best care at home from you and your vet so I hope she will improve overnight. Sending you loys of gentle hugs.

I'm so sorry Aoife is so poorly. I really hope that she is able to stabilise and rally round today. Lots of nose rubs from me for your beautiful Aoife.

Also sending hugs to you too. Sadly I know from experience that witnessing seizures is incredibly distressing.

I'm so sorry Jane. Poor Aoife. :(
Jenna's seizures can sometimes be triggered by foods or the house temperature being too warm. I'm assuming this isn't the case with Aoife, but perhaps could be an additional influence with her?

I really hope she'll improve. Gentle hugs to you both. xxxxx

I really hope this turns around :'( sending so many vibes xx

Aoife has started to eat again now and she hasn’t had any more seizures. Thankfully she still has a good poo output, so her GI tract motility is OK at the moment

Really appreciate everyone’s support x
