• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Acting normal but not pooping as much

CocoLoco

Young Bun
Hi all,

My rabbit has not been pooping as much as normal although he still have regular looking poops, his litter box is not that full even after 3-4 days. We did get a new litter box for him so idk if it’s just him getting used to it still. He’s eating fine as normal and not lethargic at all, still quite active. We did line a section of his playpen with cardboard cause he kept chewing and eating the mat flooring we had for him. So he’s been chewing and ingesting some cardboard, idk if that’s anything to do with it. His diet is alfalfa hay and pellets. Haven’t introduced fresh greens yet as he’s still 12 weeks old. Should i be worried and book a vet visit?

Remove the mat too. He needs to be kept away from anything that’s not digestible if eaten
If i remove the mat the flooring is just our carpet and he might ingest that as well. Is cardboard not digestible? I thought it was. If so, what kind of flooring should i use for his pen?

Vinyl flooring with edges secured down by aluminium edging strips to prevent the Rabbit nibbling the edges .

Or preferably heavy duty rubber interlocking stable matting

Hi, Better remove everything which is chewable. Last month my Bunny chew her plastic litter box...now I lost her. Please don't delay.
