Star being spayed U/D still very quiet

That doesn't sound a lot to me but your vet seems good. When Doughnut is ill and she is under a specialist, she is 1.2kg, I've given her 0.5ml three times a day.

I'm wondering if she is still in pain. Metacam is normally better in regular doses as by the time 24 hours is up it is out of their body and the pain is back. Maybe speak to your vet and see if she recommends upping the dose.

Star is 4.4 kg! I'll give the vet a ring tomorrow, and see what she says, luckily they have their own OOH!
0.8ml didn't sound a lot to me either. That's like telling a human to take 1 paracetamol a day!

Is it the dog 1.5 metacam as that's what Doughnut takes.

Out of interest maybe ask the others on here how much their vet has prescribed and the weight of their bunny. Vets used to recommend 0.2/kg up to 3 times a day but they now know that much higher doses can be used. I would give her some more before bedtime as that is ridiculously low for her weight.

On the bottle it says "0.5 x metacam oral susp 10ml (1) (9 may 2014)
Give 0.8 MLS once a day"

If it's 0.2ml/kg then that's right, but it doesn't seem like much to me, especially given the way she's acting

It isn't enough, here's Jane's equation of dosage:

The dose range can be anything from 0.3mg/kg/24hrs up to 0.6mg/kg/12 hours ( in ML this is 0.2ml/kg/24hrs up to 0.9ml/kg/12 hours- 0.1ML of DOG Metacam = 0.15MG

I've never just given metacam daily. From this equation it means you could give Star a lot more since it says up to 0.9ml for one kg every 12 hours is the maximum dose. I would definitely give her more as you aren't going to overdose her. Like I said the dog metacam is the strongest which I'm guessing you have and Doughnut sometimes has 1.5ml over the space of 24 hours but she is 1.2kg.

I would start a thread to ask others on here but I think Star is in pain.

Thank you!
Will start another thread, and attempt to entice her out from under the bed

I hope I haven't upset you.

No not at all. Helped if anything! It's my first bunny spay, and she's pretty big. Obviously the last thing I want is for her to be in pain, and will literally do anything to help.her

Glad she's doing well, and fingers crossed sparrow does well too!

Star is now called Marble as she's officially staying with me lol. She's doing very well. Still has her quiet moments, and hides, but she had her post op check today and the vet was very happy with her. She had a good thump while we were there, so her attitude is back

haha don't blame you! Basically, she was hiding under the bed all Saturday, and wouldn't come out at all, I had to reach under there to give her food etc. Opinion on here was that she wasn't on enough pain relief, so I phoned the vet and she upped the dosage which did the trick

Aww bless her! Star has thumped at me every time I have gone into the bedroom today, I guess I'm not in good books after 2 trips to the vets within 4 days  xx

Awwww bless her. They are little madams these little ladies lol. Daisy's getting neutred on Thursday the vets won't know what's hit them when she goes in xx

hugs xx

They really are, proper little divas!
Wow, you've got a week of spays
Maizie, and Daisy can't get done for another 2 months, but the Vet has already said she can't decide if she's excited or scared :lol:

Hope they all go well, and that they all recover as well as Scampii is :D

I know think I have done myself in with all these spays, Sparrow is a little off yesterday and today, she hasn't come round as well as Scampii, must admit I was nearly crying last night though.. Sparrow did a DBF but it looked like she was suffering so I went and gave her a nudge she was just resting.. one was not amused.

How is Marble today :)

 sounds like Marble & Scampi are on the mend. I was in tears a couple of times seeing my girls look so poorly. I felt awful that it was me who put them through it :( but both healed well & are fine now. They were terrible wee sprayers before but don't do it now :D

Good luck for Sparrows recovery, vibes x

Sorry, not been on. Im away working, buns are in boarding but j believe she is fine. Her post op check was good, and she didnt need more pain relief, so just waiting for the wound to heal:thumb:

How is your spaying week going? How is Scampii? Has Sparrow perked up, I can imagine she wasnt best pleased when you disturbed her

It is awful knowing that its because of us that they are suffering, but the alternative could be much worse!

Thats ok :) the wounds not pretty had a look the other day was a bit intrigued as they had used some kind of glue.

Its going ok, Sparrow is a lot more perkier now even managed to get herself out of her cone of shame... BF woke me up at 4 in the morning panicking because he couldn't get it back on. Oh my days was she not impressed it was her first flop just got comfy since coming home and some giant loony human gives her a poke!! Was not happy.

Scampii is just on a different level just whizzing about not caring, thank you for asking though it's very nice of you :)

Hope little Marble is ok x

I am happy to confirm that the absolutely gorgeous Marble is doing really great.... her wound is clean and healthy and to say she's eating well would be an understatement  I've never seen a bun devour dried plantain as fast as her.....think a bowlful in under 15 minutes!

Maizie and Daisy are doing really well too, they're settled, calm and happy, and (when not humping ) they're to be found begging for nose rubs, flat out and snoozing or else happily munching away.

Happy bunnies = happy me!
