  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Boo's dental thread

Thanks so much everyone.

Her 2 teeth sitting behind the cavity (where 2 teeth mysteriously disappeared) are really deformed, flat & growing under the soft tissue of her mouth :( The cavity is actively discharging smelly pus in to her mouth. Together with her spur induced ulcer she has a lot to cope with

Are you still injecting with the pen?

Gosh, that does sound nasty. We are certainly sending your brave girl lots of vibes xx

Thanks xx

Also Joey bum started belly pressing & refusing food yesterday. I don't know if it was missing Boo - he hasn't had an episode like that for a couple of years. That was a worrying day..little Boo in hospital & Joey actin so poorly. He is fine now though. I can't wait to reunite them.

I also got to experience a Boo burrito  In true Crab Lane vet style neither of us noticed it happening, glanced away for a second & she was all tucked up, looking 100% adorable. I need to set off with carrier to Bobs work in a couple of hours. Its right near my old spectacular foraging haunt so I'll try my luck

Best wishes J&B: hope you can all get the outcomes you need :) Poor Boo: Aboleth's teeth were described by our vet as 'appaling' in layout (but in excellent condition) which isn't bad for a normal-faced bun, whereas Lopsy's are 'not bad for a lop', so I'm keeping a close eye on this thread in case Aboleth gets any dodgy signs :S

Oh gosh that sounds scary. Glad you have Heather and specialist input though, at least you know you have the best for whatever she faces. It really does sound like it needs experienced management.

I'm very happy she is under CL's care. Heather is wonderful & Boo definitely needs the best we can get her. You were a huge help - thank you

It's good to have specialist input, when the issue isn't straightforward. Sending best wishes for a happy reunion this evening :)

Poor Boo  it sounds like a good move, moving to Crab Lane vets. I hope they will be able to make her more comfortable, and get rid of the infection.

I hope so too. Its good that talk is now about identifying & removing the cause of the infection, not just treating the infection itself.

:D Glad to be of help. I had a similar realisation with Elijah. The journey can be challenging but it's so worth it.

Oh poor Boobie [emoji17] I'm really pleased you've got such an excellent vet on the case and I'm glad she still seems well in herself despite everything.

How is Elijah at the moment?

I've not spent as much time with him as I would like as I am currently pretty much living at my mother's to assist her ... looks like Dad will need a nursing home, but that's another story but long and short of it I haven't been able to spend much time with the bunnies:cry: He's no worse than he was. He's really enjoying the extra greens. He's reasonably bright at times but just looks fragile... I can't quite explain. Erin was busy nesting this morning.. I've never seen her do that before in the 7+ years she's been here. Elijah didn't seem bothered by her very busy activity level!
