Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Boo's dental thread

that sounds traumatic :( I'm glad head bobbing Boo Boo is very tolerant, though she does get bored as I can't faff & fuss her at the same time.

She seems good anyway. My vet thought it more likely the infection in her tooth cavity was causing the pain over the ulcer though impossible to know. I wonder how long she will stay on penicillin & metacam - I wonder also if my vet will get to see anything during consult - I'm seriously hoping so. Will someone tell Boo to keep on being strange in character but stop being strange medically.

It was a bit traumatic yes  I hope the vet will see an improvement in her at the next appointment. Bless her, she is just beautiful Boo

How is Boozy Woozy feeling in herself?

Lots of dental stuff going on for her - is she coping with the stalky hay or on softer food?

She's doing pretty well thanks MM. She can eat everything now & I can't tell her poo from the other bunnies anymore. She had a clump of Mousey fur for her supper last night so she must be feeling more herself. No concerns with the grimace scale either ;)

Oh no, poor Mouse!

So glad it's not bothering her. That's the main thing. Is she on Metacam?

o.4 on the metacam syringe, dog, twice daily (I do think if a bun needs pain relief s/he probably needs it twice daily)

She has been gnawing at the coffee table this morning so we hacked a few pear branches off (sorry Omi :lol:) which she seems to be enjoying

Replace "hacked" with "pruned" and it's fine :D It's the correct time of the year:thumb:

Just remind them though that what they are eating now, might have increased many fold by this time next year if they had waited  We haven't started on the Apple pruning yet, but will do soon. Tethra has been eating Hawthorn prunings, as it's got some nice tasty buds on it now.

Thats a grand idea to get Hawthorn buds (but it is cold out there so not today). The tree was too tall anyway, I don't know what I should transfer it to as its permanent home

I hope that Boo's appointment goes well today. Also hope that the journey is OK in this weather.

Thank You everyone. We were there at 10

She is staying on penicillin & metacam - back in 3 weeks (vet suggested GA to have another look around but I don't like the idea of her having more GAs than necessary - every 6-7 weeks is scary enough). She has lost 200g - currently 2.4k. I know 100g is neither here nor there, as Heather (CL) told me it can be the difference between whether they've recently had a wee or not. A positive I guess is no external face swelling & at least I'm feeling ok about injections now. I'll see how useless my baby scales are & try monitoring her weight at home & probably restart her private kitchen feasts.

I really wouldn't be concerned about the weight unless she continues to lose. Didn't you also say a few weeks ago that she had put on weight. Could it be that she's just getting back to her normal weight? I weigh my rabbits in a shoe box on top of the normal kitchen scales (setting it to zero after putting the shoe box on obviously) :)

I'm pleased that you're feeling much more OK about injections. Well done :D

I'm presuming that the vet wasn't able to see much in Boo's mouth today, hence the suggestion of the GA?

Did the vet say all looked well as far as she could see?

Yes, you want to avoid the dreaded jaw abscess at all costs ... Glad the pen injections are going better :)

She said the position made viewing it properly difficult though she managed a look & didn't see anything that worried her. I'm not worried about her weight loss either but will if it continues. Yes she is back to her ideal weight. If I'd heard she was on pen injections for a month this time last week I'd have been having kittens. Feeling all empowered for confronting my demons  Unfortunately the bottom tooth that spurs isn't loose though that would have been a miracle.

Boo says thanks too, we're very grateful for the advice & support

An update on my precious wee girl. I decided to transfer Boo's care to Crab Lane & took Boo to meet Heather last week. Since then we had a gradual reduction in what Boo could eat (no hay, less & less veg, leafy herbs) so I had to prop her up with lots of syringe feeding too until her GA booked for Tuesday yesterday.

Poor Boo - Heather took lots of xrays & through these & oral exam found lots of very unusual dental weirdness. For now she has just had a tooth trim but will be booked in soon for an invasive op - the plan has yet to be set as Heather wants specialist on board.

I can't wait to get her back home tonight, Joey & I have been missing her like crazy. She was admitted Monday (so as not to subject her to public transport as I could get lift) & GA late yesterday - 2 nights is far too long to be away from my beautiful Boo

Oh poor Boo Bunny  Her pesky teeth are proving to be a real challenge for you all. It's great that Boo will now have very Specialist input as to the best way forward regarding managing her problems. I am sure that she'll be very happy to get home to her friends later today xx

Sending you loads of hugs. A worrying time :(

Boo is doing incredibly well considering what she's already been through. I hope she stays the course and continues to be the warrior bun that we all know she is. She's inspired your range, so she has to continue to spearhead the company :)

Sending loads of vibes for precious Boo. I hope she's able to eat better when she returns home this evening and can then build herself up so that she's fighting fit for next week.

Also sending hugs - such an anxious time.
