Young Bun
Our wonderful loving Woolly started his journey to Rainbow Bridge to join our other buns (Silky, Jenny, Flopsy, Button, Reggie and Ronnie). 
He as usual decided how things were to be. On Sunday after another one of his gagging episodes he had developed (cause unknown was due to go to a specialist on Monday) we visited his Vet Jane for what we didnt know was to be his last time. Our daughter and son in law paid an unscheduled visit and saw him sitting with us on the settee. Bed time came at 20.30 and he and Thumper were given their hugs and kisses. I saw he was only mouthing at his food and had real difficulty in find any strength to move himself. Also his head kept drifting to his left and he would keep pulling back into its normal position (bit like when your really really tired and drop off to sleep, but quickly wake up again). We left them at 21.00 and I was ready for an all night vigil as we felt something was just not right. After a quick cigarette we went back and he had gone. He was laying nose to nose with Thumper his great pal for the 4 years and 4 months of his wonderful and beatiful life , the two were in separable.
WOOLLY - LITTLE "BIG" MAN
How small you were, how tiny
How you had already had to face your
first challenge for one so young
You showed at a tender age your want
for life.
You won mum’s heart yet I was still
scared to hold one so small
Little did I know that I needn’t be afraid
For as you would show us your strength
far exceeded your size.
You and your brother joined our family
bringing much joy and happiness
And as you bought sunshine to our garden
So did you bring sunshine to our hearts.
Your coat of beige almost yellow must have
been where the sun struck you and said
“take this sunshine into the life and hearts of other”
When the clouds gathered and we thought
our sunshine would be lost
You again showed what a little “Big Man”
you really were
Through the dark days we thought we would
never see the sunshine again
But gladly we were wrong
And you once again lit up our hearts.
Woolly although you were small in stature
you had the heart and soul of a lion
The love you gave to us was so
powerful for one so small
The warmth of your love could be felt in
the kisses you gave so freely
We truly feel blessed to have been
Loved by you
Now it is time for us to show a little
of the strength you showed
We know you are now free of all
your earthly problems
You are now running free with the wind
flowing through your fur
And endless sunshine warming
your silky coat
But the pain of you parting from us
cuts deeply into our hearts.
Today has been our first day
without you
And rightly so it has been grey and
wet from the tears that have fallen
When the sun shines we know you
will be telling us
“Don’t cry mum and dad, be happy
as I am now in heaven“.
Woolly what can we say to describe
our time together-words are not enough
LOVE is the best I can do as this is
the most beautiful wished for thing
that people desire
