Mine are so daft. I put out THREE small rabbit bowls today and for the couple of hours they were out there they ignored them completely

Mine have a bottle - they won't drink out of a bowl. I have tried on numerous occasions, but they just tip it over  It's the same reason I no longer feed them out of bowls either - little monkey's

Mine have bowls. Did give them both but they chose the bowls and never used the bottles. I hate that I cant give the guineas a bowl and they are much more natural and easier to drink from.

Hi,

sorry to hijack your thread a bit but how large are the bowls that people use for their buns? going to offer mine a bowl as well as a bottle to encourage drinking, and wondering what size to go for?

thanks

I use dog bowls, they hold between a litre and one and a half litres. In winter though mine tend to drink quite a bit cos of the heating as they are indoors.

Thirstybuns  Is that size for all 4? I've only got 2, so I think I can scale it down a little :D Otherwise I have a bad feeling that they might just sit in it

Nope, one dog bowl per pair. My four don't live together but in two pairs. :) They don't go through a whole bowl a day, more like a third to a half a bowl a day. I try to refresh the water every day. The advantage of the dog bowls is they are virtually impossible for them to tip when full (when not full as well!) and it means they will always have enough water for the day.

Both. They mostly drink from the bowl though and the bottle is rarely used (but they still use it occasionally). Also have it as back up in case they tipped their bowl over :)

My bunnies started out with a bottle, but they both used to get mad at it for not giving them water fast enough I think! One morning I awoke to the metal spout and two inner metal balls had been ripped off; my girls had chewed and clawed so much that it came apart. That scared the hell out me (choking hazard?!) so it's been the bowl ever since. I am thinking of getting a bottle again, as I rarely see them drinking out their bowl these days :/

here's an example: Daisy, chewing away at the water bottle. terrible quality of vid, but you get the picture! and yes, that is me laughing at her at 0:27 - she's too funny!

Both  Mine have the option, and at different times, they prefer different things. At the moment, their bottles are being used more than the bowl.

My boy does this! Seems to get angry that it's not giving him enough, so I have since provided him with a bowl, although I don't know if he's realised properly yet, although I did see him have a little drink out of it today. :)

both my Toto and Flopsy grew up with bottle but i found it was going green inside so tried the water bowl they never used the bottle since!, as for Dorothy i had no spare bottle when i took her in and everywhere was closed so i just put bowl in and hoped for the best she has drank from it luckily so once bonded them two will be bowl, the two new girls have a bottle each! they seem to drink a lot so will try bowl when they are a bit older and i have revamped the shed shelving and take out the hutch once i know they are still bonded after their spays.

so a mixture here two on bottle two on bowl

Big dog type bowl is the answer to the tipping problem.
