Wise Old Thumper
Hi guys,

I'm pretty hot on my greens/wild plants/forage etc but am not too up to date on safe flowering plants.

Is there a link someone has posted before - i'm sure i've seen one for safe flowers before.... tried searching but short on time when I come on here.

I only know
Marigold (Calendula) (NOT french marigold)
Nasturtium
Rose
Geranium (NOT pelargonium)
Mallow
Cornflower
Sunflower
Pansy

What others are there?

ETA will add to my list as suggestions pour in! :D

I was just reading up on this and read that pelargonium is safe, not geranium

I read pansies and sunflowers are good too, but not 100% sure cos I haven't finished researching yet.

Yep Sunflowers thank you - forgot that one! That is because they are same family as jerusalem artichoke (I think) and I feed those leaves a lot.

Pelargonium are not safe as far as i'm aware.

I've been trying to do some reading up on this too and have found a great link on RU, I will try and find it for you in a mo.

From that list, I have written down:

Hyssop
Wild Pansy (Viola)
Stocks
Helenium
Geranium
Roses
Daisy
Michaelmas Daisy
Wallflowers
Lavender
Hollyhocks

Also lavender, camomile, borage, lovage etc but I guess these are more like herbs/wild weeds.

Oh and its not flowering and not on that list but Honesty.

(Plus the ones you have on your list - nasturtiums, sunflowers etc)

Hi there if you look at rabbit nutrition website all plants and flowers are listed and even better you can order grow your own stuff !!

You have to be a bit careful with the hedge parsley as there are lots of other plants that look a bit like it that are poisonous.
Dandelion flowers are our rabbits all time favourite food. They also eat all the apple blossom at the moment, as well as the leaves and the bark.

If by hedge parsley you mean cow parsley then yes you need to be very careful as it closely resembles poisonous hemlock.

I think hedge parsley is an umbelliferae and a member of the carrot family. :)
