Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Rabbit small wound HELP!

CocoLoco

Young Bun
Hi all,

So my 2 bucks just had their first fight about a week ago. We since then separated them until they get neutered. Just today we noticed that one of them had a small wound. Not sure if this was from the fight prior or they’ve got it from somewhere else around the house since we give them separate times to free roam since they can’t be together at the moment as we want to keep them from fighting as much as possible. We did not see the wound much earlier and only saw it today so we didn’t get to properly clean it. Any advice on what to use to clean the wound? And should I be worried? It’s all dried up now but i want to know if it’s still at risk of any infection? We have a vet appointment this friday, is this an urgent matter or its ok to wait till friday to seek for the vet’s advice? I’ve attached a photo of the said wound. Thank you!fda04a37-bae4-4b3a-904c-26c24bc2434e.jpeg

The wound looks to be healing OK so just leave it alone. Keep an eye on it to make sure the skin around the scab does not start to look inflamed and/or the lesion does not feel like a lump. If either occur veterinary attention is needed as it would be indicative of an abscess forming

Have you checked the Bucks’ genitals’ ? When Bucks fight they usually go for that area of each other and they can do significant damage.

It looks to be healing well. Are your bunnies nautered or scheduled to be nautered?
You are smart to keep them apart until about six weeks after they both get neutered.
My Zorro got many, many bites from another male bunny at a pet store until I rescued him. His privates had several bites too.

Yes they’re good and the scab have seemed to already fallen off as we cannot find it anymore. Their genitals were both checked by the vet yesterday for their first vaccinations and vet said they’re good and healthy. Thank you

We are planning to neuter them yes but their balls havent descended yet and the vet recommended we at least wait another month or so for neutering
