I'm still working on the summer house for the buns but I'm hoping actually to maybe put them out early September now, due to heat.. Clementine loves her fan so ima wait til the summer heat has passed I think? Idk I'll see how it all goes.. But I wanna start figuring out what to buy.. (there's actually power there so she will be able to have her fan in the future too butttt that'll take me some extra time, plus run access needs to be figured out too, I've got some ideas about that but again it won't be there immediately when they move in)

But all the small animal shops seem to have shut? I want cute hides.. And things for them to do and somewhere to hang veg(this is important for clementine) and I need a larger litter tray etc (mph used to have one that went in a cute wooden box)

So just wondering if anyone knows of any good shops for this kinda stuff now.. As all the old go tos seem to have gone! 😂

TIA :) x

I agree that so many small animal shops have closed. I imagine it's probably that so many small shops in general have closed. With the animal shops, it seems that it is the shops selling good quality, more expensive things that have been finding it difficult, which is annoying when that is what you want to buy. I remember feeling similar when Boyles rabbit housing had to close.

I've no experience of buying things like that as our bunnies have to slum it a bit, but it's also my preference as I like it to be more natural. Our large litter trays are actually the bottoms of hamster cages and the medium size one was also originally sold for another purpose. I dislike the fact that they are plastic, but being plastic also makes them practical, so I can understand you liking the previous mph one.

Not very helpful, but I do understand how annoying this is and sympathise. Perhaps have a look on Etsy?

Yeaa I really want a plastic tray in a wooden surround because Willoughby is a nightmare with trays, he always flips them or throws them around 😂 so I want to be able to drop it into something unmoveable ideally.

Technically I could make it myself, I have all the tools to make it, but I really don't wanna have to buy more wood and it's just the time too etc, would be nice just to buy some bits and outsource the building of these things tbh, I'm already doing the shiplap and insulation completely alone 😂

Yea maybe etsy is the answer I'll have a look, good idea :)

Or if not, maybe find a reliable local carpenter, who makes good quality items to order. Then you could explain to him exactly what you would like, after sourcing a litter tray of the right size.

I have used 32 litre underbed storage boxes lined with newspaper, straw and hay and held in place with house bricks!

I tried to find someone to do the shiplap and had no luck, Idk where all the carpenters are at 😂😂

I'm exhausted, just finished the insulation about half an hour ago, so will go to wickes tomorrow to get the shiplap I hope!

I did have help sticking up tape tho 😂

There's a local guy on Facebook (page is called Wood You Want It?) who could probably make you stuff to order if you know what sort of things you're looking for.
