Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Rabbit female less than 1kg baytril dose

Hello,

Can anyone please advice me what concentration of baytril should i get for my female rabbit .She weights less than 700 grams , and she s almost 9 years old. She has a severe snuffles infection, it comes out of her eyes and nose. We tried nebulising in many different situations but it dsnt seem to work. From what i’ve been researching it seems that oral baytril would be easier to administrate , since she dsnt have an appetite now, she barely eats , we are force feeding her with a spoon a prepared meal with vitamins and such named criticalcare. For oral solutions there s 2,5%and 0,5 %concentrations.Which one should i get? I’ve read in a different thread that others would give their rabbits even 5% but that s not oral, i would guess it’s tablets? Some said they mixed it with mashed bananas or wheat, but i’m reluctant about making her eat it since she doesn’t have an appetite . Can anyone please help me and guide me ?
Thank you in advance and hope your pets are healthy and loved.

Your bunny needs to go to the vet as soon as possible. Baytril is a prescription only medication. Medications are usually dosed by mg per kg. Liquid meds state how many mg are in a ml, and after computing mg needed by your bunny, your vet will determine the correct ml that will give your bunny the mg they need. .
Was your bunny always small, or has she lost weight from not eating?
Sending positive vibes for your bunny's recovery.

She was always small. Top weight was 750 grams i think, more than 3 years ago. We went to the vet and they said they need to put her under anesthesia to find out exactly, but they don’t guarantee that she will wake up because she s not doing so well. Also i went to 2 different vet clinics, and they both want to hospitalize her, just to ask for 1k dollars after 2 days.Tbh is not about the money if they guarantee she ll do better, but the wat they talk about it,is like they are talking about a car not about a little soul.I left her for 2 days in the hospital 1 year ago, but they didnt really did anything for her at that time, only some ivs. She eats a bit of green stuff and drinks water and walks around still but i don’t want to end her life by doing a mistake. Like i said in the previous post we also force feeding her with a spoon that criticalcare which is vitamins plus food.We went to the vet 2 days ago, and i got a prescription for baytril from another vet .On the prescription it only says the quantity but not the concentration .

No one on here is qualified to answer your question as Baytril is a prescription only medication. You need to ask the Vet who gave you the prescription.

The pharmacy/chemist who fills the prescription may be able to help, as will the vet who wrote the prescription.
