Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Lillabelle not eating again

I am sorry for your loss.
She saw the best vets and you did your best for her and she was with Mischief in her loving home in the end. She got lots of love from you and your OH.

💔

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad she was in a loving home, next to Mischief, before she went.

Binky free Lillabelle.

Oh no, I'm so very sorry to hear this, you did your very best for her always. I'm glad that she passed at home, with those she loved and loved her. Sweet dreams beautiful Lillabelle, biggest hugs to you, hubby and Mischief xx

Thank you all for your kind words. She just gave up in the end. She spat out all her food and then after a while just let the food sit in her mouth. Her tummy was bloated and she hardly passed any poo in the end. She was just in too much pain to eat 😥

We got an hour sleep last night as we were so shattered and when we woke up she had wet herself. We showered and dried her off with the hairdrier and took turns holding her on our chest to keep her warm. She didn't even try and fight us. We both knew her time was short by then as she just didn't resist us with anything. She had no fight left.

We knew we had to sleep so we could take her to the vets this morning but I couldn't sleep and kept checking on her. We had the heater on but still her ears felt cold so I lay her next to me on the bed wrapped in a dressing gown to keep her warm but I kept nearly dozing off. I was so worried I would squash her if I fell asleep.

Her ears were warm by then so I put her back down on the pads and quilts we had laid down on the floor for her. I still had her wrapped up in the dressing gown and I kept checking on her for at least half an hour and she didn't move at all. Suddenly for the first time in 2 days she jumped out the puppy pen and went to lie down next to Mischief. I fell asleep knowing she was where she wanted to be.

This morning my OH woke me and told me she had gone. He had found Lillabelle lying next to Chief under the bed. We both sat with her for ages stroking her beautiful soft thick fur. We are absolutely heartbroken especially my OH as he is her special person and their bond was so close. My OH wants us to get her ashes mounted behind a photo of her and I agree it is a lovely idea. We will have it under our tv in the bedroom so we can see her every day.

Mischief is doing ok. He is eating well and has been sleeping all day. However we are mindful that the evening/night time will be the hardest and are giving him extra fuss to help him through this time. We hope that he will accept that she is gone as they were lying there together in the end 💔

I followed the tale of Mischief and Lillabelle on this thread and others. Never was a rabbit more loved, by her people and her husbun. You and your OH did all you could to help her but in the end she chose her place to be, run free Lillabelle, until you all meet again.

Thank you everybun for your kind posts. Mischief is doing ok eating well and getting lots of love and had a special present from the grandkids who love both of them so much 😊

Oh, no, I'm so incredibly sorry you lost your precious Lillabelle... I know she was so, so very loved by you all, and I'm sure she knew it, too, especially with her Mischief by her side until the end. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts, and your OH as well, who is missing his special girl. I'm sending lots of love for Mischief, too.

Thank you everyone for your lovely thoughts. I find it hard to even write on here at the moment so please excuse me for not replying to every post 💗

I am very sorry you have lost your Lillabelle. You couldn't have done more for her. X
Thank you. We just feel broken and want to make Chief feel better but our cuddles are just not the same. He is 7 in September so getting elderly for a giant bun. We have decided we won't be getting any more bunnies which makes me so sad but we couldn't help Lillabelle enough and knowing we couldn't was just too much 😭
