Question About the 'Search' Facility

Is there any way it could be altered to make it possible to do a Search using words with just 3 letters

'VHD' being one that'd be useful

I'm not sure but I will flag this thread up for Tamsin.

I imagine the limit's set so that people can't include common words like 'the', 'and' etc in their searches - the RU hamster just wouldn't be able to run fast enough to perform the search :lol: - but I don't know if it's possible to allow certain 3-letter words, or how easy it would be to do.

It does seem to be standard thing within forum software not to allow words of 3 letters or under. It's annoying though.

The forum database has to keep a large index of words in every single post to enable searching. Adding 3 letter words to that would increase the index considerably and slow down the forum.

One way around it is to use google to search the site. eg:

site:forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk vhd

Only downside to his is google doesn't index General Chat as far as I'm aware.
