Moving bunnies back outdoors

New Kit
Hi
I'm new here and wanted to ask some advice please. I have two outdoor bunnies who live in a shed with attached run. One recently had stasis which we have got through and he is eating fine now. I was worried we might lose him so I took him to the vets on his own (not with his bunny pal as normal) and his pal gets super anxious about the car etc. So on returning home they both came inside in side by side pens to keep the bond and give meds, keep him warm and monitor poops etc. Once Nene was feeling better they spent some time outside to check / re establish their bond and get some exercise. Tonight is a milder night although a bit chilly. And they have had a good day together so it would be better if they stay out there, bond and happiness wise. They were in for about a week and have straw, mini heater which takes the chill off the air only and heat pads in their shed. Do you think it is ok to do this, change of temperature wise? They can't be in same pen indoors for reasons I won't go into now . There house is dry and windproof and shouldn't go before 10 degrees.

Thank you

Hello! Changes in temperature aren't good for Bunnies but going off what you have said I think they should be ok going outside. The worst change is going from warm to cold. Do you know what caused your boy's stasis?

Hi thank you. I'm not sure what caused it. Maybe fur? Going to make sure we groom them every day now just in case. Maybe teeth? He has never been a big hay eater so maybe I was compensating with more nuggets and greens, but should have stood strong! When he was recovering he ate hay last, so wondered if it was his teeth (he is a lop) but he has been chomping on hay a lot now, so maybe not! Going to stand firm with the hay though.
Also wondered if he had inadvertently eaten a buttercup or something in the garden. I had tried to remove them all but maybe he found one .. no idea really! They are complicated and adorable) aren't the

Yes, they are complicated. Keep up with the Hay. Do you buy Timothy? Mine love it. Stress can cause it as well or sometimes Cabbage.

I've tried all sorts of hay and usually try to provide a mix. Maybe cabbage was the thing that did it. They usually have herbs, but sometimes have a bit of cabbage too.

Re the stasis, I would think it's most likely fur at this time of the year. Are they moulting? Have a look at their poops, to check to see if any joined together with a string. Hay is the best food for good, efficient digestion. A small quantity of fresh green veg and herbs is also good as it provides hydration. I feed very few pellets. I find they are useful only to check whether a bunny is eating. They can also fill a bunny up, so that it eats less hay.

Yes I'm going to limit the pellets now. I think over time I have given them a bit more and a bit more, particularly in winter when I think they may need the extra fuel, but not the best thing to do.
