I dont know what to do for the best :(

I just feel so rotten for not getting Bailey company straight away, and you know when you have no-one to help or give advice you just tie yourself in knots and end up not seeing the wood for the trees I needed a good talking to!

I need to stop seeing Bailey as 'Shadows friend' and instead as my rabbit, my pet and he is now my number one! Will spend some quality one on one time with him and see hopefully in the future get a friend as its far to hard to think about getting another right now.
 
It took me a few months to get another bunny after I lost Ellie. I always think it's good to give yourself and the bunny time to grieve. Only get another bunny when you are ready. Bailey only has you now and so it is important to spend time with him, he has probably suffered just as much as you have. You have to think that whilst you will have family and friends and other people in your life, Bailey only had Shadow and now Shadow has gone he will feel very lost and alone. Even if he isn't a very snuggly bunny he will still appreciate you being around for him.

I hope you manage to bond with him. Have you written in the Rainbow Bridge section for Shadow? I always find that helps whenever I lose someone even if it might cause more tears whilst writing it!

Also you could have a photo shoot of Bailey and post up some pictures of him, I for one would like to see him. :)
 
Thanks, I ll try not to put too much pressure on myself! I have thought about posting on rainbow bridge but i dont think im ready just yet. I will post a tribute to her soon. Her ashes are in the bedroom with me and B-Man.

Just remember that every love we feel is different. The love you have for Shadow is so special and nothing will ever replace it, but you can have a completely different relationship with Bailey that is just as good for both of you. He is a different bunny who likes different things.

I still miss my first bunny and best friend Lopsie. I still think about him almost every day. It's been eight years. But over time I stopped thinking about how sad I was that I'd lost him and I began to think about how happy I was that I had know him and all the wonderful things we'd done and he'd done. It took me a long time to love another pet like that, but once I'd realised that every relationship I have with a pet is so different it felt okay to love them too. :)

I am very sorry that you have lost Shadow, she looked like a beautiful bunny. When you are ready you can post up on the Rainbow Bridge. It took me a few weeks to post up on there after I lost Ellie. Everything takes time and although it's very cliche, time really does heal.
 
I had a pair of rabbits, Sebastian and Mae. Sebastian is like your Shadow, my heart bunny and love :love: Mae I never felt as much of a bond with, she didnt really like people much so we didnt get to bond very well. But when she died in November I was heart broken, I loved her so much more than I realised :love::love:

Im going through the same thing now with Sebastians new wife Imogen, but give us time and we'll bond Im sure :D

You have to appreciate him as his own bunny and try not to measure him against Shadow :wave:
 
Thanks :) Im am quite fond of him and yes he is a mischeif maker! hes calmed down alot but only after causing alot of mayhem! Many a cable has lost its life to him as well as books, carpet, clothes, Hair straighteners and my favourite pair of shoes!! :roll: He is soft as a brush tho and loves a cuddle :)

I have so many pics of shadow when i can bring myself to look at them all without having a breakdown she shall grace the pages of rainbow bridge!

Focus on him, you will realise that you love him more than you think. :) Fiver sounds just like him, he's an absolute terror!
 
When you're feeling up to it why not make a thread about Bailey in the Stories and Photos section as well with some pictures and some of the naughty antics he's got up to? I'd like to read that. :D
