How to syringe probiotics??

Young Bun
Yet another thread about my Millie, who has just started on antibiotics for 14 days to hopefully treat mouth/gum infections. She has been on the antibiotics for 3 days (6 doses) now and is just starting to display signs of discomfort. She has been eating Pro-Fibre pellets well, she gets about 5-6 teaspoons a day. However it looks like this may not be enough to stop the discomfort. I had tried her last week with Bio-Lapis in drinking water and also on grated carrot but she absolutely wasn't interested. I have some Pro-C arriving tomorrow to see if she will drink that voluntarily. If she doesn't, is there an effective way to syringe a probiotic solution without too much volume? She already has 3x meds 3x times a day and whilst she's very tolerant taking them I wouldn't want to give her more than about another 1-1.5ml of probiotic solution each time. At that sort of volume, how much of the powder should I mix and would it be worth it (and how many times a day)? PS I previously tried to give her Fibre-Plex but I don't have assistance of another person and find it almost impossible to administer using one hand. Thanks in anticipation!

She's just sat there looking miserable. She wouldn't come out at 6pm when she normally does. She's not been on top form for a while however. Still eating as of 7pm. I know it doesn't sound terrible but I just know her so well. I was expecting the antibiotic reaction to start any day as she has had this in the past on antibiotics.

Is she on any pain relief?
Ditto to Shimmer’s question and what is he poo output like?

what is the name of the antibiotic ?

Sending Millie lots of positive vibes. Can you sprinkle probiotics powder on her pellets and would she eat it?

Thanks for the replies everyone, and sorry for not replying sooner. Yes, she is on pain relief (regular gabapentin and ad-hoc loxicom), fecal output is not as good as it should be but it is better than it was. The antibiotic is Co-trimoxazole, evil thick pungent stuff. I think I may have over-reacted yesterday evening. I didn't want to tempt fate by saying anything too positive but I would say that I don't think I have too much to worry about at the moment having seen her late last night and again this morning. I will keep on with the present regime and give her the option of Pro-C from a bowl when it arrives later today.

I'm glad you don't think you have much to worry about right now. That sounds promising. :) Next time, if you have Fibreplex, you could see if she'll eat it voluntarily. One of my buns is getting it at the moment and he gets very excited when I put some on a little plate for him. It tastes like carrot, I think.

I was very pleased to read your update yesterday about Millie :) I think whether it's a bunny or a human, sometimes progression towards recovery will be up and down and maybe she was just feeling a bit fed-up and miserable. The important thing is that there was an uptick after the down.

When does your vet expect to get the path lab results to confirm whether her antibiotics is the most appropriate one? Did Millie accept the Pro-C from a bowl?

We got the results back on Tuesday pm and it confirmed that the gum bacteria was streptococcus and the antibiotics prescribed should be good for that. Pro-C delivery was delayed so still not tried yet!

Great news about the results :D

I am glad vet identified bacteria and she was already on appropriate abx. Sending vibes she continues to improve and makes a full recovery.
