  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help! My bunny has stopped eating!

HI all,
Flo has been back to the vets today and they seem to think that the lump is a stump as a result of her spey last year, possible having fatty tissues adhering to it. She's eating much better, but still not pooing as much as I'd like so she was given another gut stimulant injection. She's a lot brighter generally so hopefully the pooing will pick up tonight. Thank you all so much again for your advice last night - it really was helpful, hopefully I wont have to write on here again for a while! Thank you so much xxxx.

I'm glad she is doing better. Just get lots of herbs and veg in over the next day or so to try to tempt her a bit more but it sounds like she is on the right track now.:D

Flo's eating has improved, but she is still not pooing as much as I would like her to. I've had a feel of her stomach and it feels a little harder than usual. Once again, I've tried giving her some pineapple juice but she just refuses. Has anybody got any suggestions for what I can use to get her pooing a little bit more? She seems generally better now, is eating better although she has a reduced appetite but I'm just glad shes eating.
Thank you in advance,
Sam x.

I suppose it may take her a while to get her appetite back ,just make sure there are lots of things she loves,if something is going in its got to be good ,but any trauma or stomach upset can just slow things down a bit,I used to work at a vets during uni hols etc and evening and hold the aimals during examination, this would be my experience, but others probably know more xhope shes improving
