• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dental vet near leicester

Hi in need of a dental vet around leicester

My 7yr old Netherlands dwarf recently had to have some dental work as he's stopped eating

We took.him to the best place we knew of - chine house loughborough. They really did help him and cabr fault them, but after xray and some dental qork my bill was around £600.

Weve been caring for him since and he's been great but his behavior is off today and hasnt wanted to eat. Hes also shedding and sometimes hes uncomfortable when this happend so i encourage him along, however hes not sprining up and feel he's going to need more dental work.

I've given him ranitidine and critical care.

If his dental qork is going to be a regular process its difficult for me.to spend 600 (possibly be a little less) again with the same vets.

Ive read on here of good known vets that are more reasonable in price.

Any vets on here able to help or any recommendation. I will drive to anywhere within an hour if he can see seen tonight

Ty, your vibes helped. He's feeling a lot better but I'm still suspect about his teeth. He's needing far more encouragement than usual to want to eat
He's stable for now....

I can only suggest doing 'vets near me' search on Google to look for any within a certain radius that you could get to easily enough so you can use this as your new vet. Then try ringing them all to find out firstly to check the vets have an actual rabbit savvy vet there and then secondly their cost for a dental including any pain relief needed.

Also some do a VIP treatment where you can pay an amount monthly and spread the cost of their jabs and a 6 monthly check up plus sometimes other help eg my vets also takes 10% off any treatment and medication.

Good luck getting him to a rabbit savvy but less expensive vets soon

I understand what you mean exactly. We are going through the same with our bunny as well. She wants to eat and smells it but then turns her nose up at it. Have you got any pain meds for him? He needs them and also a vet to check his teeth and get him eating again before his gut slows down. That is an emergency.

So I would look around for a local vet that you think looks like they could be rabbit savvy and ring them tomorrow morning early to get him booked in for a dental and to also check his gut is moving ok.

Best of luck and topping up the vibes

He's back to normal, just needed a big fuss making.
He's eating and happy
He's had a short course of ranitidine and melodically
Still want to have his rear teeth inspected though to assess the situation

Ty for all the concern and help

If his rear teeth do need doing he will have pain on eating most likely so I would get them done as a matter of urgency.

Best of luck with your nethie
What is his name btw? 😊
