Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dennis isn’t eating

I'm so sorry Loobers. Is Maple with him at Uncle John's? Just thought if she was, seeing her eating may encourage him.

Sending lots and lots of vibes for your special boy xxxx

She’s with him  x

They said they need to stabilise his pain as the metacam can’t go with the steroid treatment.

They are trying buprenorphine this evening.

Thanks everybun

Sorry if I have missed this, but has he ever had Tramadol ? IME this works better than Bupe’ as it is less likely to cause sedation or anorexia.

Gabapentin is good for neuropathic pain, serious arthritis can cause neuropathy.

I’ll butt out now, who am I to make suggestions to pass on to a very Rabbit Savvy Vet

I know Jc doesn’t go straight down the tramadol route as he says it may work really well for some rabbits and other no effect at all so I think they are doing the rounds. He had some else today, I want to say it began with h but could be totally wrong. The problem is Dennis has teeth root problems and ducts too so they want to try and stabilise him to get to the exact bottom of it but at the moment it’s trying to help him with the pain. He’s such a resilient lad something must be really troubling him !

I will ask for gab thanks Jane x
