• Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hello I have a male rabbit who was a rescue and now old battling snuffles.. we have him on antibiotics and has been for a while now and nebulise twice a day with F10..
The problem now is that his fur is falling out..we had the vet to him and she said there is no sign of fleas or mites and that it's natural 🤔 since the problem is getting worse..his skin is smooth with no redness .. om worried that I am missing something..I'm not sure if he is stressed cause of the illness or nebulizer..anyone got any pointers ?? Would appreciate it.

Sorry you have this issue & I'm afraid I have no pointers for you. Unless it was just an extreme moult I'm not sure I agree with your vet that its natural, I've not heard of baldness outside mites, self barbering & sebaceous adentis, ie there is usually a cause. Where is the fur loss on your bun? all over or in specific places? I'd be tempted to go for a second opinion. i hope he is ok

I just had a little Google & it seems there are more reasons for hair loss than I had thought. This site suggests bacterial infection can be the cause which may fit with the snuffles...or stress. Does he appear stressed with nebulising or after. I've never had to do it but read on here about how beneficial is it & how most buns tolerate it well. I'd maybe then ask your vet if its a response to any particular aspect of your buns health & see what they volunteer.

No bless him he is not stressed with nebulizer..I've been looking too and he has had snuffles for about 8 month so could be that and long term antibiotics as I've just read that can effect it..
