Advice on litter training unneutered male

I’ve been trying to litter train my bunny Rupert for the past 3 weeks/ since I brought him home and although he uses the litter tray for wees and poos, he also does them everywhere else in his puppy pen!

He's almost 3 months old and isn’t neutered yet as his testicles haven’t descended, and the vet things he won’t be ready for at least 6 more weeks. I’m gradually free roaming him and the only accident he’s had outside of his puppy pen was on my bed (possibly because it smells strongly of me?).

I currently clean up all his accidents with pet safe disinfectant, put them in his litter tray, and deodorise the accident area with a vinegar water solution. If I catch him having the accident then I put him directly into his litter tray.

Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated !!

It is impossible to fully litter train an entire Buck. I think you need to lower your expectations as his behaviour is completely normal.

He will continue to poo and wee on areas he wants to scent mark, such as your bed. And once he has soiled a particular place he will continue to do so. At puberty he is likely to start to spray urine too. Care givers of entire Bucks learn to keep there mouth closed if they are in firing range 😀

For now prevent him from accessing your bed. Otherwise the soiling will become learned behaviour and is unlikely to stop even after neutering. All soft surfaces such as beds, sofas, armchairs are usually places an entire Buck will pee and poop on.
