  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Tragic News - bunny died, urgent advice please

I think its time to start a conversation about the baby bunnies that died... I didn't really have long enough with them to watch them grow and get to know them properly but one particular rabbit liked to climb up my arm and sit in the hood of my sweater and would stay there so I would end up walking all around the house getting on with my daily things with a bunny in my hood looking out.It was sad and unfortunate to lose them so soon although they were going too eventually be re-homed I was planning on keeping two of them. In all my time of keeping rabbits I've never experienced this. They say there is a first time for everything.

I would start a thread in Rainbow Bridge for the Baby Bunnies. If you have some photos of them you could post them on there and tell us a bit about their characters. This might help you to remember them when they were happy and healthy, not just when they became so sick and passed away. Then in the future you can always revisit the thread and post on it again or just re-read it. I know this has helped me cope with a particular loss of my extra special Rabbit ‘Inspector Morse’. It’s like an online memorial and it would be a way to acknowledge that although their lives were cut short you did get to spend some time with the Babies.
