Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Raven needs vibes dental 1/10/22 post 232

I don’t often say this but I would hold off doing any SQ fluids if heart disease is now on the list of possible diagnosis. I hope you manage to locate a Cardiologist who will see him.

It has been over a week since he had sub q, based on your prior advice-though today he eating less again so fewer poos. He never had issue with fluids in the past and they always seemed to help, so this is new to me.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get an easy diagnosis for Raven yesterday at the vets. I hope you can find a cardiologist for him to see if Raven's heart is okay. I'm sorry he's eating less again today... Sending many, many vibes for him.

I hope you can get a specialist soon, and that he doesn’t have a serious issue. Topping up the vibes and hugs xx

Thank you friends. I wonder if my taking him off medicam last weekend was the wrong thing to do. Now that vet verified he did not have a bleed I am thinking of restarting medicam.

Shortly after my post two months ago I restarted medicam and he ate more and drank a lot. He was peeing lots and poo became normal so I did not pursue more diagnostics-fearing a setback. He got lots of dandelion greens, hay, a few pellets which he does not eat completely, and we spoil him with a garden stick treat everyday-broken into four pieces-which he was begging to get and eating right away. He was active, well-groomed and maintaining his weight.
Two days ago he was nibbling his treat stick pieces and leaving some. Yesterday and today he is taking one or two bites of his treat and dropping it.
He is not eating pellets, though eating greens and nibbling hay.
He is still on medicam.
I worry he needs another dental and it took so long after his last one to get him eating/drinking .:( I almost lost him. We will monitor him and call vet on monday.

Oh dear, it does sound to be Dental related. Sending lots more vibes for him x

Thanks for confirming my thought. I do not know if vet can do dental with minimal sedation because his teeth wear to the gums and needlelike points break off at gum when touched.
Thanks for vibes.

Thanks for vibes.

The Vet could change the GA drug protocol and also insure IV fluid support

I'm so sorry Raven is having problems again. It does sound like a dental issue. :( Sending him lots and lots of vibes. I hope he can be helped at the vets and that his recovery this time won't be as long and horrible. Poor boy.

Thank you reader,omi,pets mum,
Today he is enjoying his dandelion greens, and managed to nibble a little piece of treat stick.
