rabbits and guinea pigs

Hi there Hemee.

I'd just like to reassure you that you haven't done anything wrong.

This is a wonderful forum, although there are a number of Bunny lovers
who feel particularly strongly about the welfare of rabbits, (Like we all
do) even if it means scaring newbie rabbit owners to death.

You learn through experience. I have kept both rabbits and guinea pigs
for years. I have kept them together, and I have parted them.

I have found that some guinea pigs and rabbits make wonderful friends
and would never be without each other. I have paired two at the mo. The
bond between them is just as strong as that between two rabbits.

I'd also like to remind people that some rabbits just don't get along.

I have found no "language" troubles between GP's and buns.
My pair Starsky and Hutch, pine for each other immensely,
even if parted for a few hours.
Starsky squeaks madly, and hutch constantly hunts for him.

I feed them GP food. I always have done and always will do.
I also make sure each of them have access to a variety of fresh veg
daily, ie: broccoli and apple one day, and cabbage and dandilions the
next.

After keeping both species for a few years, you prepare for the event of
them disliking each other.

In regard to them being jumpy - settling in time is important.
When settled, handle them daily.

Most important don't be afraid to ask for advice!
Goodluck.
