  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

OH Dear - Hop Along Zac

glad your bun is ok bunnytales...they are a worry aren't they? thanks for your lovely message about Dubbs too.

with regards to vaccines, well this happened to my cat years ago...my mum took her to the vets to have some frontline administered. later that evening her back half became paralysed and she was dragging herslef around the house by her front paws, her back legs were utterly useless. mum took her to the vets and she recovered but since then i have always been nervous about medicines and vaccines...

Was just having a look through some old posts as Skye went for her VHD jab yesterday and she has been quiet ever since. She has now develped a limp and isn't putting weight on her front right paw. I know that this is a side effect of the jab and some people have mentioned Metacam to help with the pain, but my vet is closed for the bank holiday, is there anything I can give her instead? Or is cage rest enough for now? She's still eating and pooping, just not her normal self.
