  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxomatosis help needed

Glad Peter is still fighting on. There seems to be alot of myxi bunnies this year. Hope he continues to improve. Keeping fingers and paws crossed for you.

Just read this and I wanted to send him plenty of vibes to continue to get better. What foods have you tried to tempt him with? Is he still on painkillers? Usually a bunny won't eat because of pain but sometimes they get so used to being hand/syringe fed that they will simply refuse to eat by themselves.

You are obviously doing well as he is still with you :) Really do hope he makes a full recovery!

Just to let everyone know, Peter was put to sleep today.
This morning he went downhill very quickly, he stopped moving around and reacting when I came in the room. And after I had fed him and given him his meds he fell onto his side :(

I've bought him home to burry but he is still in his carrier I can't even bare to do it yet.
Thanks for everyone's advise and we'll wishing.

Oh no :( I'm so sorry. It sounds like he had just given up. You did all you could and did well to keep him going for this long.

Binky free Peter. xx

I'm so very sorry.

It is a truly horrendous disease and you did your best to make him better.

Goodnight Peter, sleep well brave bunny. xx
