  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Morning Jack how is Flopsy today any better

Hi, not good again he did not want to eat but gave him his metacam and he ate about 12 pellets and hour later :) we are going to sort this out for the poor thing tomorrow, we must find out what is wrong

Can you ring the vet for advice and say you can't bring him in bust ask if you can up his dose of metacam or give it twice a day? That might help until tomorrow.

thats what we have done, our normal vets said on wednesday to give him 0.5ml a day . the emergency vets said on saturday to give him 1ml twice a day

Well the vet's checked his mouth all fine, organs fine, gut sounded okay. Vet reckons maybe an ulcer or something in his belly so given him an injection for that and a gut injection and giving him until 5:30 and if he is not better then he has to be admitted and taken to vet hospital and put on drips, X-rays and blood tests etc. They said that'll cost around £300. He has to go every 3 days for injection
