  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Took her to the vets as digestion playing up again. Thought it was teeth. I waited while they did the dental. Did it at 11. She's so sleepy. Think they gave her the drug that contains morphine as she's so sleepy. They said keep her warm and she apparently took a while to come round.

Can't remember how long she takes to recover from this drug but hoping she'll be more active tomorrow. Back to syringe feeding her

Awwwwww poor wee Doughnut. Did they tell you to hold off her Gabapentin til she has recovered from her GA ? If you can get her to have a good water intake that should help flush the GA drugs through. Hopefully she will have been given IV fluids during and after her procedure. Sending lots of vibes for her.

No she's still on her normal meds and will be giving her the evening ones in a couple of hours with her syringe fed. She eaten a few dried herbs. Hasn't had any water. I could syringe some I guess but she's having a lot of syringes bless her

oh bless her, glad she got it over with before Christmas though. Treacle takes at least 24 hours to be anywhere near normal after she's had hers done. Sending lots of get better quickly vibes for your beautiful girlie xx

Poor Doughnut. :( I hope she will recover quickly, dear wee girl. It's such a worry when they're still so woozy after surgery. Thinking of you both. xxxxx

Aww poor wee baby. She is such a strong bun in such a tiny wee body. Loads of vibes she recovers quickly xx

She's doing amazing. By 8 last night I went to give her another syringe and she took it standing up without me having to pick her up. Some fell on my fingers and she licked it off. Left a bowl over night. All gone and lots of poops. This morning she came into the kitchen to see where her breakfast was. She's such an amazing little fighter. They said I'd be syringe feeding for two or three days. And she's dry again! Thanks everyone. Your vibes have worked

Wow. When I read the first post I never expected such a quick turn around. She looks too cute to be so tough too.

Sending lots of vibes.
